I am about to buy one or the other and who else to ask but you guys? The only differences I can see are the price and the hard drive extension of DVDIdle Pro.

AnyDVD hands down. If doing a full movie also has options to jump to title menu and 'remove annoying adverts & trailers'. Good for CD's too. And it also has a ripper.
So yep AnyDVD!

Let's not forget us gals too :0)
Posts in the safety value don't count so if your 26 post doesn't include any there then is usually done 1x daily.

What is considered the safety valve, is this considered the safety valve? Do posts say if they are in the safety valve, or does the above-average Afterdawn.com user *know* if they're using the safety valve?

LOL - you'll know when you post in the safety value - it's the forum name. This is the dvd ripping forum so posts here count.
Just go to the main forum page and scroll down - it's under General Discussion.

let's just hope that AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 will never go the route that DVDDecrypter has! I loved that program sooooo much but now it's not updated and that was for freeeeeeeeeee!

Now if you're buying AnyDVD and CloneDVD are there any discounts for AfterDawn members? I know they were offering a 10% discount at one point.... is it still on?

the discount is always just 10 bucks off. and no its not currently on. but always try to input afterdawn . who knows you might just get $10 off which would lead to $49 insted of $59

Regardless of the discount or not it's still worth the price.

CloneDVD 2 and AnyDVD are by far the best.

Try it you will not regret it.

I tried out CloneDVD 2 and... was disappointed. It does the exact same thing that DVD Shrink does! Okay, I've got a question now. Sometimes, but not always, I get some stuttering (if you could call it that) on DVD that I just burned onto disk. The quality is the same, but sometimes it skips 2-10 seconds of dialogue for no reason at all. I burn all of my disks at 1x speed. Is there a cure for this, because I do not like it one bit. Whenever it does this, I just go back to DVD Shrink. I started to just write DVD Files to a folder and then testing it out there so it won't waste a DVD-R.

Hi gogochar
How do these dvd's that stutter playback in the PC? Any problems?
If they're fine in the pc then your player may not like the media or may just need a len cleaning.
So which brand of media are you using? Is your drives firmware up to date also?

The things I like about Clone vs. Shrink is no analysis, you can do the movie only option and keep the menus (for some reason I just have to have them:) and if doing a full backup just have to uncheck what you don't want - a small blank space is inserted whereas in Shrink a still image or pic is inserted.

gogochar ,you should be able to burn at 4x at the min. even 8x make sure your firmware is up to date on your drive and use better media (Taiyo Yuden and or Verbatim) on a clean machine with NO other programs running.

and guys/gals the discount is still on though today 10 bucks off for both CloneDVD 2 and AnyDVD making it 49 dollars or 5 bucks off one program just type in "afterdawn" in the coupon box

I'm using Memorex media. I have been reading a lot about Memorex discs (many not that don't condone Memorex especially). Maybe I could use some TY discs. Also, I have been trying to use different types of media. Is it any better if I buy a 5-pack of Memorex discs that come in a package already, or is there no difference at all than those that come in a 100-disc spindel?

I agree with gus738 - if you're in the US check out http://supermediastore.com. They have some good specials going on TY's.
If you mean is there a difference betweeen a 5 pack or spindle of memorex - maybe they can use different manufacturers depending on the burn speed and format. Go with TY's or Verbs - consistent good burns.

Yeah as aabbccdd pointed out 1x is a bit of overkill unless you have a really old burner. No slower than 8x for me.

All right then, I'll sattle up on Taiyo Yudens. Man, how do the Japanese take everything American and perfect it 100x fold?!?!

Note: Don't have to answer that question.

Edit: My yahoo.com status is reporting Afterdawn.com subscriptions as spam. How do I make it to where it makes the Afterdawn.com notifications appear back in my inbox. I've already tried the "Not Spam" option, but it still won't give me the notifications in my inbox. For now, I've turned off the spam blocker (it's the only option I have at this time).
