Wow that was fast!!
I don't think you'll be sorry.
I've been using TY's for almost 2 years now. Rarely a problem.
Make sure your drives firmware is up to date too!
Keep us posted!

My current firmware is HD07. Can you tell if I need to update this please and where I can find it? Does this mean that I have a Phillips DVD Writer?

I'm guessing the part under "DVD Writer". It says "HL-DT-ST DVDRW GWA-1466B (rev. 1823)".

How do I update it? I got the site. Where can I go to get the update at the site? Every time I search for it, it shows up an error. BTW, my computer is only 9 months old! But they did switch out the recorder for another one. I guess this is what tripped up the burning capabilities, huh?

Should I invest in an external burner (since I don't know how to install it without messing up my machine)?

why would you do such thing????? just burn the d@$^ disc ... having an old firmware is not really gonna mess up ... burn a movie man :D .... if you want to update it legaly or with instructions.. check out the manafature of the drive .... then check for updates or firmware or somtetin.... again just try a disc out .

I mean it burns good and stuff, but when I use CloneDVD 2, it does that skipping. Should I not use the built-in burner and instead use a different program to burn it? BTW, it was switched out because I bent it. The warranty covered it though...
BTW, can you tell me what company my burner is so I can give it back? Or do I need to find that out by myself?

@gogochar
Is this an HP pc?
Is the burner a 4166B instead of a 1466B?
It only takes like 2 minutes max to update the firmware - maybe a little longer if you not used to it. But the flashing/updating itself takes less than a 1 minute.
The firmware helps with the read and write strategies - always best to keep it up to date.

The latest ones. CloneDVD 2 does have built-in burner. At least, that's how it works for me!
