Nero Vision - always not enough space on disc?

Recently Nero isn't letting me burn ANY movies, currently I am trying to burn a 6 clip DVD, I set it for extended play (240 mins), and dolby 2.0 sound, the total space is:
2.12gb out of 4.38gb
Why would I be getting not enough space errors with every disc I put in?
I'm using Nero 7.2.0.3b

They will probably want a log, and make sure to take out your serial number.

Which utility are you using to burn the DVD, Nero Burning ROM or NeroVision or Nero Express?

Do you have it set to DVD and not DVD-1? What type of Media are you using and what burn speed?

Nero usually has an automatic setting that will adjust the quality to fit the required material on the DVD. You are not using that, it appears so if you did, what would happen?

I am actually using custom settings, automatic gives me the same error, that is why I tried taking the settings down myself. Automatic made it makes it 4.37 out of 4.38gb which could cause a issue.

It's on a DVD-R, NeroVision, DVD, Max burn speed (only one availible oddly enough).

I will get a log after I make another attempt.

It's been like that with my Liteon DVD burner with all the versions of Nero I have used.
Just tried automatic on everything, and same problem. I cannot find the log for Nero, all I found was the installation log.

It looks to me like you only have 2.3 gigs available on the media--has it been formatted or something?

It also says it needs a DVD +R/RW and you are using a DVD -R

You also have InCD installed, you might want to uninstall that. It may be causing the problem.

Major thing here. InCD is a nightmare, it messes up Nero. Zap it out with this handy tool.

Nothing appears to have changed. Are you using a DVD +R?

Did you do a cold boot after you made the changes?

Did you use a new unloaded DVD? I say unloaded, because if you put the DVD in a drive with InCD running, it may have altered the disc.

You are trying burn way more than your dvd can hold. (this is on your 1 jun log above saltgrass' post). After you have done the other recommended fixes I also suggest you run your project thru nero recode and set the target output file to 4300mb. Solution number 2 would be to use a dual layer disk. Otherwise you will end up with another error.
As a matter of fact this seems to be the case with most of your nero logs which might be where the issue with not enough space on disk issue.

Of course!! It's asking you for a Dual Layer disc!! You need to remove stuff off the project to be able to burn on a normal disc...

No problem permiggs I'm still learning to read Nero logs so I usually peek in on gwendolin's, maxburn, and loceng assessments (along with google). Its a 'group effort' here to get OoPpEe to get a good burn :).

Ok so when it said it was using over 4400MB, why was Nero Vision saying I only used 2.3gb?

You didnt post the whole burn log. I am not talking about all the burns, but in the last log you posted, parts of it were missing.
Also, your error is that your target size is somehow always set to a capacity that is higher than a DVD+ or - R can handle. As suggested, set your target size to Custom 4300, and you will not burn the last 1mm of disc space. I use 4400, but i know my media is good all the way to the end, and a 4400 target makes encoding/transcoding use less compression.
Let me see if i can find the target setting in Vision. I will post a screen shot of the target setting if you need it, but i dont have one handy right now.

That size is if you were going to burn those files to dvd without any conversion. The converted size is why you are not able to burn to dvd as your original files were most likely not in dvd format. As I pointed out earlier your output files once Nero calculatesthesize of the file to be burnt determined your project would not fiton the disk.

It has been my experience that the majority of members who are using either Nero 7.2.0.3 or 7.2.0.3b are experiencing problems that they haven't encountered before. All we can do is advise you of something that we believe is causing the problem...in the end it's up to you whether you wish to heed our recommendations.

Stick around this forum and check out some failed burnings and you'll see what we mean.

Don't know, but perhaps some possibilities--maybe there are extra files being burned that are not showing up in the compliation (need burn log to check this). The burn settings being used to calculate the 2.3 gig number are not the ones being used to actually burn the project. During transcoding, the files are actually increasing in size because of the way they are encoded. Maybe something got corrupted and is not encoding the files correctly.

Have you tried 5 instead of 6 clips? Is it just one type of file or files you have problems with, or other types also.

Have you tried exporting the project first and use the resulting mpg file back in NeroVision and try burning it that way.
