I'm looking at scrapping my Sony dvd burner. Now I don't know which brand I should get since now I'm skeptical about Sony drives. So which dvd burner should I get?

Depends on what your budget is:

I have to Pioneer Drives and they work like a charm and Ive hear BenQ's are also good drives as a cheap alternative.

The BenQ DW1650 is a great drive and inexpensive too.
