Hey guys! You guys helped me learn how to burn psx games before, thanks again.

I had a friend who loaned me about 9 Burned DVDs of Japanese Naruto fansubs (that he paid for) with English Subtitles because the so few translated versions on cartoon network are crap. He wants them back and I want to copy them all before I give them back to him.

I have no idea how to do this.

I just got DSL and I'm going to buy a DVD Burner soon.

Overall, please tell me or link me to pages that tell me how to
1.Best DVD Media for this job
2.Best DVD Burner you guys can think of (I know the slowest writing and reading speed possible is the best when doing this kind of stuff)
3.What programs (hopefully free and have good DVD writing quality) I should use to do this
4.The step by step guide that details how to do this.
5.Also, if i actually pick up on this pretty fast, how to fix the DVDs so the subtitles won't cut off the screen :)

I will only have one DVD burner, so I will probably have to rip the DVD to my Computer and then Burn it to another DVD. Basically my goal is to make 1 to 1 copies as easily as possible.

You guys are the masters and I highly respect you guys, please help me again and I will try my best.

For media go with Taiyo Yuden which is available online from several reputable vendors.

http://www.supermediastore.com
http://www.meritline.com
http://www.rima.com

Or retail use Verbatim or Made in Japan Maxell, Sony or Fuji. Keep burn speed to 4x or 8x and you should be fine.

Excellent brand drives IMO are BenQ and Lite-on both of which are reliable and will booktype and are reasonably priced. Or if money is no object then look at the Plextor which is also excellent, I own two so I am partial. Go here this is another reputable site with good prices

http://www.newegg.com

Free programs are aplenty, for you immediate use, because these disks are already the correct size file not compression needed, then try DVD Decrypter it will make a 1.1 in iso read then iso write mode. For DVD backups free progs are DVDFab Decrypter to rip all the new protections, DVD Shrink to compress and DVDD to burn. You can get these at this site, and also guides on their use.

If you don't mind paying for programs then try the free 21 day trial of AnyDVD and CloneDVD. AnyDVD runs in the background and breaks all the new encryptions and Clone will compress and burn. It is user friendly and fast.

As for the subs you can try looking in the video editing forum there are lots of posts on this. I have never done anything in that dept so can't give you too much info on this.

Okay thx for the info.

So I should order some Taiyo Yudens from a store, A Plextor DVD Burner is the best, and it seems I will use DVD Decrypter because it seems like it will be the easiest method.

I will try to write these DVDs at 1x (when i burned PSX games for my ps2 it wouldn't read anything wrote above 2x ;())

Should I buy DVD-R or DVD+R?

You have your choice in media from Taiyo Yuden which is only online, or retail Verbatim, Sony, Maxell or Fuji. BenQ, Lite-on and Plextor will all booktype/bitset +R media so therefore you should have no problems with any standalones, if it is for PS2 backups then get the format that is most compatible with your box. As for writing at 1x that I am not sure of, considering the new media of 16x may not write that slow, I do not believe my Plextors will allow for 1x speed, just starts at 2x.

buying Taiyo Yuden online at supermediastore.com or meritline.com is a sure fire way to get the right stuff to get Taiyo Yuden in a B&M stores look for the Sony or Fujifilm DVD+R thats (Made In Japan) but i beleive that the DVD-Rs is the format you need to backup games ,iam not sure booktyping the DVD+R to DVD-ROM will work with games

I buy my stuff here and bought a NEC DVD burner for $41.00 and have
very low prices for Lite-On, etc. I use them all the time. You can
buy a warranty for $10.00 for a year and they will replace it for
any reason...Worth Checking them out.
