Hey Tom Melee what is CfosSpeed? Can you explain? Does it improve your High Speed connection and if is there a link or something. Oh by the way I don't take steriods or modify guns. I just like to learn about them.

Here's the link:

http://www.cfos.de/speed/cfosspeed_e.htm

Basically it installs a new driver for your lan card, or rather a proprietary driver to shape how traffic comes into your computer. It dynamically changes settings based on network latency to keep your ping the best it can be.

I haven't noticed a HUGE difference in my p2p, but I was downloading at 560k/s yesterday, that was pretty hot. What it really makes a difference in is page loading. Normally, the AD forums main page takes me a good 8-10 seconds to load, even on this fast connection. Since I got this cfosspeed, it's pretty much instant. The other sexy thing is that I can turn OFF the upload limit in Azureus and cfos actually limits upstream itself to the highest it can be while still ensuring maximum download. Now I can up at 50k/s and download at 400...pretty sexy.

But yea. It's cool.

Well most of the AD pages with FireFox and with the fasterfox extension load in like 3 seconds or less and average like 1.75 seconds. I used a couple of registry tweaks that I got online and it appears to have worked.I notice now that my page load faster now when I am using utorrent. When I first installed and used utorrent, my average speeds were like 37kb/s downloads and my page would take almost 14-17 seconds to load and now they are back to like under 3 seconds or better. My downloads are still averaging like 43kb/s with peaks seen as high as 118kb/s for a couple of seconds.

Meh, fasterfox is...well, not for me.

Lemme find my FireFox tweak settings page...here ya go:
http://forevergeek.com/open_source/make_firefox_faster.php

Actually, today I downloaded some new joomla toys at a sustained 839kbps, which is super insane, because it's over my "supposed" max transfer.

I should add that there are 3 other computers and 1 VoIP phone sharing that bandwidth...not always...but I also generally have multiple things happening @ once.

I'll tell you I didn't buy cfosspeed, but I won't tell you where I got it or how.

Whoa take that back. Re did everything and again and browser speed is abit under 3 seconds now average according to faster fox. I don't know if it is really worth it yet because browser was pretty quick with faster fox before I got the bit torrent client and started downloading.

The FireFox speed tweak won't help your torrent downloads.

The cfosspeed I have is 3.01, and no I can't give it to ya b/c that would be piracy.

You can find it though, I promise.

That's the cool thing about it svtstang, it automatically does its thing itself. You can further tweak it whenever you want, but the more you d/l, the better it tweaks itself.

I can't in any way guarantee what kind of speeds you'll get, but like I said, it works for me!

Well I guess I thought I obtained it but I just obtained the trial version. Plus I didn't see any speed increases whatsoever so I uninstalled it.

Huh, I can't imagine why they would, i hadn't heard that. It's a legitimate piece of retail software, *if* something like that were to happen, it's best to play dumb.

indeed.

I got out of a piracy allegation once by repeatedly interrupting the Copyright Management Office guy @ adelphia by asking "Wait, so you can download movies? Where?" "That movie isn't even OUT yet, how could someone download it?" "Wait, you're saying 'I' downloaded it?" "So it was a DVD?" "Oh..a sexvid? I DID NOT DOWNLOAD A SEXVID!" "Oh...xvid? What's that? I have a dvd player, is it that?"

Etc.

Ok I am not really familiar with Peerguardian but I just downloaded and installed. I notice that when I have it enabled my broswer slows to a crawl and a lot of sites I can't even access. How do program the peerguardian to allow the sites that I want to browse load?

Again I am a peerguardian newbie.

Right clcik the blocked IP that is not allowing u to access the site u are visiting, and chose "accept permanetly" if thats what u want to do. I beleive u can accept the IP for 15 and 45 minutes also.

Alternatively, right click on the PG icon in the tray and click "block HTTP", which will UNCHECK it.

Unchecked, this will allow access to all sites, but will NOT stop browser hijacks, popups, ads, etc.

Easier than explaining:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/

PG won't keep it from happening, but most likely if you choose to d/l the "spyware" and "ads" list, it'll block the connection...and thus the hijack.
