i recently brought CoD2 but once i install i cant run it because it says my computer doesnt support alpha blending. :-(
can some1 help resolve thir problem?
Well its been a while since I've been here at AD but....
Alpha blending is used in computer graphics to create the effect of transparency. This is useful in scenes that feature glass or liquid objects. It does this by combining a translucent foreground with a background colour to create an in-between blend. For animations, alpha blending can also be used to gradually fade one image into another.
It depends on your computer,we need more info ie; make, model#(if store bought) Or motherboard and processor(if home or custom made).Do you know what card what graghics card you have presently installed?
The computer that you bought was not made for any high-end gaming at all, meaning you might have to upgrade more than just the Graphics Card.
But a cheap (but good) chip that suppots alpha blending is this:
The dimension 2400 and 3000 do not have an AGP slot for upgrading your video card, they rely on the Intel extreme on board graghics built into the mother board.Your only chance of upgrading the graghics card would be by using an open PCI slot(you should still ahve 2 open if your computer came with the standard 56k modem installed-3 if it did'nt) you should be able to get a PCI card that would allow you to play COD2.I will check and edit this post with my search results and/or recommendations.
Here's one of the reviews>I couldn't beleive what i saw when i ran BF2 at 1024x768!!! MINIMAL LAG!!! MUCH MUCH better than the ATI RADEON 9250 i had previously. It also runs COD2 at 1024x768 with 4x AA. Great card, pretty much the best you can buy for pci. Also works great for COD, CODUO, BF1942, Halo, and Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, and definitely Counter Strike Condition Zero at 1600x1200 and looks terrific. DEFINITELY BUY THIS IF YOU ONLY HAVE PCI like me :( !!
