Though I legally own the game - I wanted to play a legal backup of DotHack 1:Infection.
For some reason though the disc on my computer is slip up into three files, .hack(11).gi, .hack(12).gi, and .hack.gi .
The first is about two gigs, the second about 400 megs, and the last one is only about 2kb. So how can I turn these files into a properly working backup?
Thanks

i have seen people post up about them before. But i forget what they did to burn them. It is not real common to get files in that format.
If i remember correctly i think they were burning the smallest one.

Why can't you use an image making program, to make an ISO file and burn that to DVD or keep it on your PC? You can use something like DVD Decrypter or Alcohol 120% or even Nero.

.gi = Global Image. Its a very old image format. And was used by RecordNow MAX, but its not available anymore.
DVDecryper should be able to use them, just point it at ".hack.gi"
If not, then you could open up ".hack.gi" in IsoBuster, right-click on the CD Icon, then convert to .iso format.

remember if you use DVD Decrypter to select the small 2kb file
a word of caution tho, using DVD Decrypter with gi files doesnt always produce a working game
if i get any gi files,i like ace1uk suggested, load the small file in isobuster (in your case the 2kb file),but i do it a different way,
ike this
file/open image file (select the smallest gi file)
right click on it/extract session 1<image>
then when its done, rename the tao extension to .iso

.gi = Global Image. Used still today by Prassi PrimoDVD2. I forgot where I found primodvd2 but you have to burn the .gi file with it. Another way to get around the .gi is to rebuild the file by opening it with ISO buster, extract, rebuild in CDVDgen, iml2iso and DVD decryptor. Burn the ISO.

Yeah, you're 100% right. I rebuild every game I get automatically that when I try to help people out sometimes my mind just goes with what it knows. :)
