Yah,
I have fallen into this problem myself. A clone site http://www.mininova.biz is ok.... specifying the file is not. Which basically suggests that there is a sort of "miopia" and "stigmatism" occuring with forum rules... :)

Basically the forum rules indicate that you can post any URL as long as it is not a direct link to an "illegal download".
Probably the best rule of thumb I can give is try not to "peddle" the material, just "lead" them to the material. In other words, it is not illegal to help someone to find something... what becomes against this forums rule is actually handing them the file or making it so blatant that what they are about to do is illegal.
So, this probably causes more confusion than rest. I can promote my site , but i cant tell you that you can download the new x-men movie in english, french, or spanish on my site. I think afterdawn had DMA warnings because people were posting "direct" links to torrents.

We can have a link to a site like http://www.isohunt.com, say if the member says "where can I download movies" , we can only give them the http://www.isohunt.com, not the direct link to the movie's.
Thats how it work's I think.
