Before I encountered the now well-documented 'nCannot connect TRF' error using DVDshrink and the latest Nero (6.6.1.4) I thought I would try the Nero Recode equivalent of DVDShrink, as I had been playing with Recode's DVD-->Mpeg4 (Nero Digital function).

I started with DVD Decrypter output files, and the overall Recode process, with 'Burn-At-Once', seemed faster.

However the DVD would not read in an older Lite-On DVD-ROM I had. But it would read in the DVD writer I used, and also my TV-attached Sony DVD Player.

So I tried old faithful DVDShrink and encountered the 'nCannot connect TRF error'. Rather than downgrading Nero, I tried two other tests.
1) DVD Shrink to ISO image then Nero to burn (6.6.1.4)
2) DVD Shrink to TS folder then Nero to burn (6.6.1.4)

Both those versions do read in the older LiteON DVD-ROM

So there must be something different in the physical the output DVD-Rs

I ran Nero Info Tool against all 3, as well as the Disc Info that comes with Recode.

All three look the same to Infotool capacity 4.36 Gb etc
(why it says the length is only 18 minutes I dont know.. its a 1.5 hr movie)

But they dont look the same to Recode's Disc Info
1) capacities are 4,467MB 4,465Mb and 4,466Mb
2) more interesting: the DVDShrink ISO and TS folder ones are 1 session 1 track, while the Recode version is 1 session 5 tracks

Any idea what gives?

(I would add screenshots of these outputs but dont know how to post that.. I put them all on one powerpoint slide so I could examine carefully)

Thanks
