You'll need USBAdvance/USBeXtreme not HDAdvance.

Could always try Google search :)

1 last thing if i get a normal internal hard drive and an external usb case would it work the same, cos the external drives are so exspensive and i could get a much bigger drive for the same kinda price

Yeah they are the same thing, I used to use a 3.5" 200GB HDD with an USB enclosure, and that costs about the same as a 2.5" 60GB HDD. The only problem with the 3.5" is that you need a power source for it, whereas the 2.5" just runs off the 5V supplied from USB. I don't find that a problem though, and considering you get about 3 times the size for the same price, I really don't see any reason to use a 2.5" HDD (except when you want to carry it around for data storage of course - but you won't be doing that for a PS2 HDD :) ).

and if you willing to spend a bit extra you can get your slim PS2 put into an HD Combo case. This will allow the drive to be internal rather then external.
With the addition of a DMS4 Pro SE chip you would have the ultimate system

Agree with steimy - it'll be a lot faster than USB and better compatibility - I'm waiting for my PS2 to come back with HD Combo installed :D

Just a reminder the FPC for HD Combo aren't the easiest to install - personally I found it more difficult than a modchip (and that's why I paid someone to do it), so the installation for that will probably be slightly more expensive than getting a modchip installed (plus there's more wires to solder for HD Combo compared to a modchip)

might as well save up and get both while your sending it out. Make sure you get a DMS4 Pro SE as that has the best features to go with using a hard drive in a PS2

I hear ya dan168, i just sent mine out yesterday to get it slapped in an HD Combo case with 250GB hard drive :)
Looking forward to that as my PS2 has not had much usage since i got the Xbox with 300GB HDD in it. Just so much easier to play them all from the hard drive. And once you get use to the fast loading times it is real hard to play things from a disc.

Yeah I had my modchip installed myself without problems, would've done the HD Combo thing if I had more time and a better soldering iron (the good one broke and I didn't really want to pay a few hundred dollars for another one...)

I guess if you are looking for HD Combo and a modchip, you'll be looking at around $150 or so?

Never been a big Xbox fan - or rather, never been a big Microsoft fan :p But yeah all I hear about Xbox is how you can put all the games on HDD and its really convenient and fast. Took me a while to decide on getting HD Combo though - not the cheapest investment :)
