I have a question. I have a version of james bond for psp that uses its own loader. I don't know if I can trust the loader and games though. Because when I load it up it says "this is an expirimental project, it may harm your hardware" or somethign close to that. But in the title of the file that contains the game it says 100% working. The loader is JBRU1% and JBRU 1. Should I trust them? Its kinda undevhook related but I need some help.

Yes trust it.
That is the loader called RunUMD
All the versions of RunUMD say its experimental and stuff.
Just use it! You have nothing to worry about

Hi,
I am trying to find a way to get backups to work without UMDs, mainly MGAcid 2, and ISOs along that firmware. Unfortunately my UMD Drive broke, so Im kinda screwed in that department... Any ideas?

Won't happen. Sorry. Those games are higher than 1.50 FW and the ONLY no UMD ISO loader is for v1.50 games and SOME 2.00 games. Unfortunately, you'll need to get a new PSP.

Actually no he doesnt.
You can actually run some 2.00+ ISOs without UMDs using the RunUMD (1.5 only) option in DevHook.
Well thats what this guide from PS2NFO says anyway.

yea, I said that. v1.50 games and SOME 2.00 games. I made sure I mentioned that b/c I knew you would come back thru here. LOL
Tho I could never get it to work, even w/ the Hookboot option.
I think what they actually mean by "NO UMD" is you can take the UMD disc out of the drive AFTER you've started playing it. I could never launch an ISO w/o a UMD in the drive, but one day while I was playing ridge racer, I took the UMD out to see what would happen and it kept going. The reason I think this is what they mean (taking the UMD out of the drive AFTER you launch the game) b/c I tried doing that same thing w/ GTA:LCS and it froze. I put it back in and it started playing again. Thusly, NO UMD option for v1.50 game. (and again, SOME 2.00 games)
what do you think? Have you actually gotten ISOs to load w/o a UMD in the drive even BEFORE you started playing the game?

v22? Where have you been? The latest and the greatest is 0.43
Also, with the latest version you are able to run some firmware 2.00+ games without a UMD using the "RunUMD (1.5 only)" option in the boot select menu (when you start DevHook)

You can use DevHook to emulate both UMD and ISO games that are firmware 2.6 or below.

Yes you can play downloaded games.
But you NEED firmware 1.5 for this.
Download the latest version of DevHook from here:
http://rapidshare.de/files/25491856/DevHook_0.43_ENG_FULL_v3_333M...
Put dh on the root of your memory stick. Put DH_ENG and DH_ENG% in the PSP\GAME folder of your memory stick. Put X5 in the root of your memory stick.
Create a folder called ISO in the root of your memory stick
Insert a UMD into your PSP. Go to GAME-->Memory Stick, scroll to DevHook and press X.
Then select your ISO and choose firmware 2.6 and start it.
You may have to mess around with the pre-load address option before you can get your ISO to work.
For firmware 1.5 ISOs, you can run them without a UMD

Hello!
I have read this thread. Took me about half an hour but I still can't get it to work. I installed the chaos devhook 0.43 version and loaded it on my memory stick. I put an ISO (Daxter) in the ISO folder in the root. After that I start devhook and change all the settings.
Then I press start and the system reboots. Nothing happens at all.
No errors, no shutdown, nothing. Just a simple reboot.
What am I missing?

Anyone know if there is a work in progress to get an ISO Loader to work with 2.00+ games without a UMD? I dont have $300 to just dish out for a new PSP.

You could just get the umd drive repaired, or buy the parts off ebay and attempt it yourself.
