Post a log and maybe someone will know what is wrong. Remove your serial number before posting.
If you are using Nero 7 look in C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\NeroHistory.log.
If Nero 6, search for the file, but I think it is in a Core directory somewhere.
Your situation seems to be different than most folks, since yours does not lock up, but just keeps running. Include all the info you can about what type of files, and how they were encoded, and your procedure, including individual Nero Utility, used to transcode. Is it just a certain type of file, or all files?

Thats the whole thing...would i even have a log since it wasn't an error that caused it and since the transcoding just stopped and the elapsed time keeps moving but no time remaining or progress at all just the elapsed time keeps moving...so with that being said would i even be able to access the log cause its not stopped aka finished yet and if i would have a log how would i access the log?.....and i'm not the only one with this problem..check this link from awhile back on this forum....

The log I mentioned is generated every time you use Nero, not just an error log. Check it and then post it-----. Use notepad to open, it is just a text file.
If you look at your post, you give no information about what version of Nero you are using, or which utility.

Watrat,
If you aren't demon1777 it might be a good idea if you would edit your post and remove it here and add it to a new thread, so folks won't get confused.
You might also take out your serial number and edit the log to include the latest burning try or tries. Right now it says it burned successfully. Maybe the problem is caused by the files you are using to transcode.
Anyway, it would be best if you started your own thread.

Dear Demon 1777,
Unfortunately that is the same problem I have had in the past. Sorry to tell you here they won't be able to help you.
No saltgrass, as I tried to tell everyone months ago there is NO history file (I tried with search in the whole HD). The odd is that mine worked for months before giving that problem all of a sudden. I have even re-installed the OS last week, but it didn't solve the problem.
I had to quit using Nero, I can suggest a couple of programs to use to decode the movies (like Imtoo and ConvertToDVD), but unfortunately the quality resulting in the final movie is way worse than Nero. I admit Nero is the one program which gives the best quality, but for some reasons some people cannot use it.

If you have attempted to burn, there should be a NeroHistory file. Do a search for just that. It might have a .log extension or maybe a .tx. When you search, make sure you allow for all sub folders and hidden system file folders.
If you don't have this file, that fact may point to one of your problems, that Nero is not installed correctly, or maybe some type of security issue where Nero can't write the file.

I don't attempt to burn, the only thing I do is convert the movies and save them to HD.
The problem is that with this error Nero Vision gets stuck and the elapsed time goes on. The only way to stop it is using Windows Task Manager to close Nero. Doing this it is as if you never started the project, thus there is no trace of the attempt.
I tried different kind of Neros always cleaning the computer with the tool Nero provides, touched all the Video settings in case there was something wrong in one of the setting in the program. I tried Fixing Nero with the Setup option. Finally I even reinstalled the OS (windows XP Professional SP2).
It is a real pety, coz I really loved Nero when it used to work on my PC...there is no sign of big squares unlike all the other movie converters.
(But I will try to use Nero now and try to Burn a DVD, let's see if it returns a History file....will let u know).

@watrat
For starters, your burner firmware is way, way out of date, which means the burner probably does not even now what media you are feeding it. Try a fw update and see if this solves some issues. Current for this burner is HSOD, which was only updated a few weeks ago.

Also, you are running to many unnecessary programs in the background you free physical memory is low. Try not using internet or multi-tasking when burning.
Try defraging your HDD, do virus scan and spyware. The logs you are showing are Nero burning engine logs, not NVE so cannot help you in that area.
Also edit out all your Serial Numbers, you don't want someone borrowing them.

@Demon177, Do you know which version of Nero you are using, some contain bugs.
@WatRat, forum rules forbid hijacking threads, I have asked a mod to have yours removed.

that is why i edited it. just start your own thread so that people can see your problem & help you. if everybody had their problems in just 1 thread, it will be confusing & people needing the help like you could be missed because of the confusion.

Gwendolin, for many of us that problem comes no matter of what version. I tried from Nero 6 on with all the following versions.
