Well I have built a few computers now and I always bought mid range video cards but now that I am doing more gaming I am going to buy a better video card. I am running Hitman Blood Money and it lags and looks like crap! So any suggestions would be helpful. I only know the basics of video cards, so if someone could tell me the specs to look for it would be very helpful. Thanks.

What video card do you have right now?

Look at the games you have or want to play. What card do they say you must have to run the game? What card do they recommend?

How much money do you want to spend? Buying THE latest and fastest card will cost the most. Buying an slightly older model can save you a lot of money as long as it meets your needs and is compatible with your OS.

For example, I recently upgrade my video card to improve performance on Tomb Raider: Legend. TRL reccomends a GF 5900 or Ati 9800XT (or better). Cost me $49.00 after rebate for a GF 6200. Hot, new cards can run up to $500-600, maybe more.

I have a Radeon 9250 256mb card but it does not support direct x 9.0C or some pixel shading crap. which you need for Hitman to run correctly. I keep reading these spec about ramdac, core clock speed etc. I have an AGP slot so it has to be AGP. I want to spend around a 100 bucks. Thanks for the help.

I am not a video card expert. But I do understand that you need to match several factors to pick the "right" card.

I ran a search on Newegg and found this item:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102428

It is an AGP Ati Radeon card with 256mb that is DX 9.0 compatible. The price is $94.99 plus $5.46 for shipping. The item listing stated DX 9. I searched for Radeon cards, Ati, AGP, and 256mb. You might find other choices here or at other sites (I do not work for Newegg).

Good luck.
