Alrighty. So I'm trying to set up Azureus without any NAT errors. I know I need to open up my ports, but the thing is, my modem is a little weird and I've not the slightest whereabouts IN the menu the changes would take effect.
I'm using a Smart Link ECA 100 router. DSL connection, obviously. Anyone know how to figure that puppy out? I'd be forever grateful to turn those yellow smilies into some nice bright green ones.
Err, also. There's an option under one of the tabs in the configuration that says "Virtual Server". Under there, I have an option for public port, private port, Host IP address, the ability to click either TCP or UDP, and an ID. I'm a little lost there.
And for a windows firewall, I don't -have- an advanced tab when I click to change the properties on my internet connection. All I have is a "general" tab, and an "authentication" tab.

just to tell you it does not really matter if you have a yellow face or a green face.I get max speed with a yellow face(250kb)with like 4 seeders and no ports open whatsoever.

That... really doesn't help my issue at all, bud. I know that some people can still get max speeds whilst having the yellow smiley faces. However, that's not what I'm asking. What I -am- asking, is a little help in forwarding my ports to get rid of my NAT errors in Azureus. Or at least, to see if that will solve my problem of getting a maximum of 12kb's.

Maiyra, I can't find anything about that router/modem that's helpful. I could attempt to connect to your router from here, it's not that hard, but honestly I don't have the spare time to do that for free, I apologize.
You can try downloading my tutorial from the first link in my sig, just click it then press the "Free" button, it explains in detail for a linksys or similar router exactly what to do to find all the numbers you have to stick where.

have you tried changing from azutreus to utorrent as utorrent seems to be better and plus it takes up like 1/5th of the processor speed that Azureus takes up and it is alos easier to gte green lights for some reason.

Thanks for the offer, TomMelee, and I do have a Linksys and a Belkin router I could use in hooking up to another device... say, my Playstation 2. However, would I still have to open the ports on the MAIN SmartLink ECA 100 ADSL Modem? I'm beginning to think that yes, I would have to. However, I don't know. This isn't really my cup of tea.
Fiend - They don't even have a listing for a SmartLink modem in there. I've already looked there. Thank you though.
PeterG - No go with that program either. Same problem.

edit...my picture didn't work.
So..I'll say it again.
Right now, your main line goes INTO a modem/router combination machine, and then the computers plug into ports on the back of it. There is no intermediary device?
If that's the case, and your modem IS also a router, then yes, ports must be opened. It MIGHT be possible to DISABLE router functionality of the modem. If it IS, there should be a checkbox somewhere that says something like "modem functions as router" or something similar, that you could set to DISABLED. At which point, you could plug in your OTHER router and then your comps into THAT router and go from there.
You could TRY to call your ISP and tell them that you need to open ports so you can transfer files to/from your work computer while @ home, make up a big story about being disabled or your kid being sick or something. Have them explain to you what you need to do in the router, heck, even use the same port. Say your work assigned it, if necessary. Then make the rule, and you should be golden.

Hehehe. I was pretty sure my modem was a router as well, considering that yes, it connects directly. I did call my ISP and told them that I would need a port open for a "game". He bought it, obviously, but it sounded to me like he didn't want to put forth the effort to open the port or something like that.
He said that the SmartLink ECA 100's have to have a port set up one by one manually. However, I think I could do it if I just knew the right submenu it would be under. I mean, it's got to be there somewhere. Only thing is, I don't want to screw anything up.
I could even post some screenshots of the one thing that looked remotely like it might be it. I'm just not going to make any concrete changes until I know for sure.
I've checked Google, I've read the guide in your signature... it's like nothing exists on THIS specific router/modem combo. It's really quite annoying.
It also gives me a submenu for a a "NAT Configuration", which pops up options like "Session Name" and "User IP".
Basically this is what it says under that "Virtual Server" option:
Virtual Server Configuration
ID Public Port Private Port Port Type Host IP Address
- Use the following form to add special port that you want to be opened for your special application
ID Public Port Private Port Port Type Host IP Address
TCP
UDP
Settings need to be saved to Flash and the system needs to be rebooted for changes to take effect.
Number of Virtual Servers 0
Bleh, technology sometimes.

I don't think it'll be under virtual server.
It should be something like "forwarding" or "Games and applications" or "triggering" or "access"...something like that.
I could connect to it if I had your IP address and login/password, worst case scenario you'd have to do a hard reboot of the modem to reset the settings.
Other than that, I really don't know. Sorry. :(
