unluckily (backup wise) you got the remix version which is a Dual Layer DVD and needs to be rebuilt, im not sure if it has its own special rebuild method or it can just be done using the normal methods.

ok i found this on another forum so and i dont have the game so i havent tested it

Tools Required:

IML2DVD 1.51 by Sonix
Apache 3 Preview (with Kessen) by Sonix
CD/DVD Generator 1.50
PSSDown V1.01

First open up the Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix DVD9 iso in Apache 3. When that update thing comes in Apache 3 close it by pressing x then it will open. Open the iso and you'll see that it's two layers. Right click on the root and choose "Extract all" to a directory of your choice, peferably C:\MC3Remix

After that's done, open PSSDown and add every .pss file you can find in Videos in MC3Remix, and choose the Downsample compression at 99% instead of 75%. After that's done, open CD/DVD Generator 1.50, choose DVD-Rom Single (not dual layer), and drag and drop all the files and folders from MC3Remix inside root. SYSTEM should be in root, followed by Videos and other folders as folders in root. Do not drag the folder MC3Remix which is incorrect. After that if you attempt to export as iml it will tell you it's over the size of a normal DVD. Now you have to replace the large videos with the small ones. What I did was go into story, and replace one 200mb video (which was credits, right click and open in Windows Media Player) and plenty others until CDDVD Gen gave me a positive number next to rec instead of neg. The replacement file is SDLOGO.PSS as it's the smallest. What you do is copy SDLOGO into a folder like STORY, then delete the 200mb file you want to replace, but remember the name, then rename SDLOGO.PSS in that folder to the file you just deleted, and repeat with other files. After CDDVD Gen gives you a positive number, click Volume and set the Disc ID as SLUS-21355

For Producer and Copyright enter ROCKSTAR GAMES and for Volume Name enter MC3REMIX. After that export iml. Then open IML2DVD 1.51 (important must be 1.51, not 1.01, as it won't produce the iso and hang at 99%) and choose the iml file and your iso output file name, and make sure Verify is ticked before that. After it's done burn at 8x in peferably Nero 7.0.8.4 (not necessary, I love Nero though, just use your fav iso burner prog), and enjoy MC3REMIX backup as DVD5. I sure did, now my original is untouched and can be added to my "near-mint" collection.

Mate, edit button ;)

I know sometimes for other forums you have to register to access the information, but even then, you should at least give the link to the original post and give credit to the author, a little thing called manners :)

Unfortunately no, swap magic doesn't support DVD9. Besides, DVD5 is a lot cheaper and easier on the PS2 laser, and to be honest you don't really notice the lose in video quality when you rebuild the game to a DVD5. I think to burn a game onto DVD9 you'll need to patch it anyway, but I've never done this before as I either rebuild the game, or store it directly on my HDD (which doesn't need rebuilding)
