Hi
I could really use some help on this one
I have a dual layer burner and I tried copying movies like underworld evolution, firewall, freedomland to a dual layer disc I'm using Imgburn and Decrypter but it always stops writing at 51%
and i have the latest firmware patch for my drive
Has anyone been able to copying any of the above movies onto a dual layer disc
and if so how did you do it? I'm making more coasters than anything
Ian

make sure your using good blank media Verbatim would be your best choice and when burning DL burn at 2.4x on a clean machine without other programs running

Hey any of you ever use Ritdata Dual Layer Discs?
and I think it might be the burner because i tried copying a WWE DVD that I did previously on Dual Layer and it would only copy 51% and then stop
I have the most current firmware update for my burner
any ideas what might be the problem?
Thanks again

Never used Ridata, only use Verbatim disks based on the recommendations of the AD Gurus around here. If the burn stops at the same point on various movies, it almost sounds like a burner/media conflict. Try the Verbatims and see what happens. The last DL movie I have burned was King Kong using Decrypter/Imgburn.

I have used Ridata, and out of 6 DL backups I got 4 that worked, stick with Verbatim.

Well fellows,
this is interesting i just updated IMGBURN to the latest version availale as I didn't bother doing that for a while
I also was using an older version of any dvd and just updated that
and I used a memorex dual layer to copy Bambi and its copied beautifully.
Do you think because I didn't update the software I was using that it was the cause of my problems?
any thoughts?
Thanks

Verbatims are superior, no doubt, especially from the player's point of view. However, there are some DL burners out there that actually like the better quality Ritek's such as Memorex.

I have been having the same issues with DL burning failing at the the layer change (49-56%) with ImgBurn. I have written nearly three dozen Memorex's with about 10% fail rate. I switched to Verbs and am having nearly a 35% fail rate using ImgBurn, DVD Decrypter, and AnyDVD. You might think it is a bad batch of discs, but those discs burn well on other machines using Nero DVD Copy (0% fail rate). I have even Verified the Nero DVDs with ImgBurn with no issues.

VADER144, I was wondering if it may be a ASPI layer issue. When I changed the setting under the I/O section of Tools > Settings from SPTI to ELBYCDIO.DLL may writings of Verbs completed but would fail on verify at the layer change. They seem to play OK on my player with minor skipping at the layer change. What other DVD software do you have on your machine? Perhaps there is a DLL/SYS issue? I even changed the motherboard and did a clean install of Windows XP MCE SP2 and had the same issues.

Also, I have been unable to make an ISO of Freedomland without getting an "On-the-fly IFO/BUP file patching failed!" error. When I changed the settings under CSS and General of Tools > Settings to match those recommended for AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter, I got a "Pack Header Not Found (0x00000000)" error.

Suggestions anyone?

you have DVD Decrypter setup this way right...

To use DVD Decrypter in conjunction with AnyDVD as stated per Olli ->OF SLYSOFT AND CLONEDVD

Proceed to the DVD Decrypter Opening Page - Tools - Settings

I/O Tab - Click on "Elby CDIO-Elaborate Bytes"

General Tab - un-check "Check For Structure Protection"

or try CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD instead DVD Decrypter or use the AnyDVD ripper ,ripping it to your harddrive first then run the file though clone and burn

Thanks for the comments.

Is their a specific place where those settings are stated?

I have been going through the posts and saw someone's ( I think herbsman) comments on changing settings for AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter.

General Tab - uncheck "Check For Structure Protection"
CSS Tab - Change from brute force to none.

Later in other comments, I saw Olli say something like "if your not bothered by SPTI, you might switch to ELBYCDIO.DLL (Elby CDIO-Elaborate Bytes), but it didn't look all that definitive.

I have looked for some sort of guide but have missed it. As I stated in my previous post, changing the I/O setting only changed the error from the writing phase to the verify phase.

It has not helped making an ISO of Freedomland. It goes 99% of the way and I get the errors mentined above. The exact error depends on the settings, but they are essentially the same error. "On-the-fly IFO/BUP file patching failed!" or "Pack Header Not Found (0x00000000)". I click OK then DVD Decrypter ends saying it completed successfully. How can this be?

Freedomland is the only movie of mine to date that I can not make an ISO of with AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter. I have some 200 DVDs. Has someone made an ISO of Freedomland with AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter successfully in Region 1?

When Imgburn loads, it says its loading ElbyCDIO DLL v6.0.3.1. Is this the correct version? I saw comments on CD Freaks talking about version 3.2.x.x. Do I have the correct version?

The only software on this box is Windows XP MCE SP2 with all the patches, DVD Decrypter (the last version), Imgburn 1.3.0.0 and Nero 6.0.0.16. I have Mcafee VirusScan 8.0 installed, but I disable it when writing or Ripping.

Thanks again for the input.
