lol! all console discs must have the correct boot sector to boot on your console, you cannot burn this sector because it cant be read, your ps2 releies on not being able to read this sector to authenticate the game. I maybe be wrong here but somthing like that.
You are half correct - the security check on the PS2 discs cannot be burnt and only pressed, but they can be read by the PS2, otherwise there's no point for them to exist in the first place.
I have a question for you dan, being a kiwi: when using CD DVD gen, what liscense area do you insert? you can only choose from america, europe or japan, does it even matter?
I think you match it with the region of the game - although I could be wrong, but that's what I do anyway and it works fine. All games you can get from stores/rentals here in NZ would be "Europe" (PAL), while most image files you can find on the net would be "America" (NTSC), and then of course there's those games from "Japan" (like my Final Fantasy 12 is the Japanese version). There's a file in the disc that tells you what region the game is from
