I'd have to agree with steimy.

I have 2 Benq 1640's and a 1655 and they are both flawless!

yeah, i asked for some advice here in the DVD burner section and that is what a lot of people told me. So i went for it.
My old Sony DRU 700A was a great burner but only lasted about a year and a half. But it could not booktype so DVD+R was out.

The BenQ has been great since i bought it. Lightscribe is cool although i don't use it much. It can booktype DVD+R to DVD-Rom,
And it has burned just about everything i have thrown at it so far.
Even the dreaded 16X media.
I got some just for doing movies and thought i would try a game jus for kicks. So i burned GTA Liberty City Stories on the Philips 16X DVD+R at 4X and it works just fine. I was shocked as i had heard so many horry stories about 16X and did not really expect it to work.

I've used pioneers so far and they've been great the only downside is pioneers don't allow you to booktype (at least not the A03/103 or A06/106 that I've worked with I don't know if it's different with the 08 and 09s)

Edit: I forgot to mention I've also used Plextor and it was a greater burner but too expensive (I returned it to pickup a pioneer 'cause of the price) don't remember if that one supported booktyping

NTSC DNAS threads.
