Hi folks can anyone tell me what software is needed to re-encode an iso file (which has been ripped from an mpeg movie)so that it can be burnt to a dvd and will play in a stand alone dvd player. Thanks in advance.

False. you cannot rip an ISO from a movie. You can rip a movie from an ISO (a ISO is a 'container', like having a burnt CD-R or a DVD), so I'll assume you have an ISO with a movie inside it.
Tou could also 'mount' the ISO. (Daemon tools, Alcohol 120%), so the iso content will appear in the 'virtual drive' (F:, if you have 'phisical drives' named D: and E:).
But careful:
- if the ISO is of a VCD, the movie will be named AVSEQ01.DAT and you'll need to transform it to a 'true mpeg' with VCDGear [dat -> mpeg];
- if the ISO is of a SVCD, the movie will be named AVSEQ01.MPG and you'll need to transform it to a 'true mpeg' with VCDGear [mpeg -> mpeg];
- if the ISO is of a DVD, the movie will be into a VOB set. ReJig or many free applications will extract the M2V video and the AC3 audio(s) [maybe correcting to 0 the AC3 delay].
Anyway, you'll need to convert the movie into a movie compliant to your TV system , if not [PAL <--> NTSC].
If it is already compliant, just burn the ISO, but I assume it isn't.
The original movie is my brothers wedding recorded in the states but the disc will not play in my stand alone dvd player. When put into computer the disc plays but my moniter is only small and i would like to view it on the big screen. DVD Decrypter does not reconise the disc in either file or ifo modes only iso mode. So now i have an iso file that shrink does not reconise. My original question is how to change the iso file into a vts VOB etc so shrink can burn it to disc and let me play it on dvd player. Thanks.

Did you try to do this? Because I'm assuming you have between your hands an ISO of a DVD, and therefore, on F:\ you should find everything you need (F: if you already have D: and E: as 'physical' units, otherwise increase by one).
If you have a (S)VCD image is it the same, but you'll have to rip the mpeg from the 'mounted' image with VCDGear. The command is: dat -> mpeg if the ISO is a VCD image, (avseq01.dat is in F:\mpegav); mpeg -> mpeg if the ISO is a SVCD image, (avseq01.mpg is in F:\mpeg2).
You'll just have to extract/convert a mpeg [(S)VCD] instead of a VOB set [DVD].
