HI,this is really vital and gripping stuff today i went and wanted to play FIFA World cup 06 and inserted my S.M 3.6 and i loaded it and everything was fine then inserted the backed up fifa world cup i did and rebulided it and evrything and it was spinng then coming up wiv a message saying "NOT A VALID PS2 DISC" And my S.m 3.6 has been working absoulotley brilliantly now this bloody happens pleas help me it was working 2 days ago and i was playing wiv it wiv my mates.
please help me i really need help coz i really want to play it and carry on the england world cup quest but it's spoiling it for me.
please just reply back thanks

Try cleaning your laser, sounds like that's the problem. Also what media did you use to burn the game?

U might want to try ajusting the laser if that doesn't work i would suggest CD loader.

u shudnt need cd loader, also if ur usin a slim ps2 check one of the tools hasnt come loose

my media is Sony made in japan,v12 slimline ps2 wiv magic keys 2 and S.M 3.6 and i tryed cleaning th laser still dnt work and also wat amazes me is tht it works on my crappy dvd make

try burning at different speeds, what speed did you burn the backup copy you have now? and what program did you use. also make sure the tools are in properly.
also if you have swap magic 3.6 you hardly need to rebuild any games unless they are dual layred, so try buring the orignal iso without rebuilding and try again.

The discs are Sony DVD-R's 1x-8x as i said made in japan and the tools are in properly i used a bit of blue-tacjk to secure them so thts not the problem burnt all of my games at 4x half the disc speed wiv Nero Burning Rom 7 Premium Editon. And rebuilding is recomenend in FIFA world cup 06 coz it freezes in the match if u dn't so there they are. and waiting for ur replies.

yeah ur right aba the rebuild, also u seem to be doin everything right cant really see what the problem is, maybe try burning with DVD Decrypter but it should be working really

oh never mind it's not the end of the world i'll just wait a bit and try cleaning the laser agian and see how it goes!!!
and about DVD Dycripter i really dnt like tht coz i burnt 4 games and they didnt work wiv dycripter so i used Nero and they all worked up till now.

well i guss it depends on what ur PS2 andn ur burners job really mp ps2 seems to like Nero. but also it depends on the PS2 what burner works for tht it's really complicating this PS2 backing-up business and so annyoing oh and by the way tryed it still dnt work.

your not sayin what type of PS2 you have (slim or fat) or the methods your using to open it (slide card or flip top) it's almost sounding like if it's slim, that the magic keys might not be installed right but can't tell without more info

ah nvm saw you said you've got other games to work.
hmm... I've heard of some issues with fifa so I'd look around a bit. Also decrypter doesn't work well for you? That's odd.. granted you set it up right it should be as easy as 1-2-done less you have to rebuild

i said that my PS2 version is the U.K version the 70003 somfin like tht, but its U.K and Slimline (Not Fat). and my Ps2 seems to like Nero burning mor than Dycripter funny enough and bout ur complais on fifa not needing rebuild it wrong coz it works wiv out rebuild but gets freezed in the loading screens to matches so whoever told u this information he must be drinkin to much beer lol.
But anyway im not here to critises i do need help
so plz help me guys

so what your trying to say is that tool b needs a tweak. how many times do i have to tell u that all of my tools are blue-tacked into plsce so its nuffin to do wiv the tools. And shauntay i didnt say tht fifa doesnt need a rebuild i said that it doesnt work without rebuild. so all PPl trying to burn fifa 06 world cup without rebuild it will freeze in loading screen to matches i can asure that so u have to rebuild it.
but guys plz help me here wiv my S.M 3.6 as i sadi b4 it was working 1 week ago now still doesnt work.

it doesn't matter if that tool is tacked down or not, the tool that goes in back of the slim has a chance of bending after use, if it's not working for any of your games (and not just failing on this one) then the key tools are your problem. (I have had to adjust this piece a few times, in fact a lot of guides reccomend you bend it anyway when you install it, since I bent it a different direction it's never came out.. yet..) (jynx)
But that message your getting is a PS2 message, not a SM message. again if it's not working for any games, it be the tool...

OK, basically if NONE of your backed up games will work now, then it's either swap magic(unlikely, but possible if it's REALLY scratched/scuffed etc), your magic tools or whatever version you have (try takimg them out and inserting them again) or your laser is gone/going(try an original game in there) - if none of those things fixes the problem, try swap magic in a friends modded console if you can to test that too.
If it's just fifa06 that won't work, then are you still using the same media/burner etc? if you're using different media, that could be the problem - even if it's the same brand it could have a different dye and medai code.. you could try updating your dvd burner's firmware and see if that helps. loads of other things it could be too.. so rule out the hardware glitches first, and then try the others..

thanks for ur details paddymail couldnt quite get all of that but.
about ur thing of the original the original games work good, no problem and the way i burn it for all of my back-ups are the same Sony DVD, LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633s is my burner firmwire and the program i ise is Nero Burning Rom 7 Premuim edition. so thts it and the tools i Use are Magic keys 2 (not 1). and i tryed reinserting the tools and cleaning the laser still no luck and u said somfin bout the actual disc of S.M if its scratched and no, its nt screatched.
so hope u can help mate
AND THIS ISSUE IS NOT ONLY FIFA WORLD CUP 06 ITS ASLO FOR,4 other 3 GAMES. I HAVENT BACKED -UP ALOT COZ IM NEW TO THIS THINGS, BUT THEY ALL USED TO WORK PERFECTLY UPTILL NOW.

OK, let me see if I got this straight.
so originals work fine.
You haven't changed the media or burner.
Yet you have games that used to work, that don't work now? does that mean that you have some games that will work that you backed up yourself?
Are you using dvd+r or dvd-r?
How exactly are you burning your games? are you using original discs and dvd decrypter to make an ISO file, then burning it with dvd decrypter or nero "burn image to disc" mode at 4x(half the max speed of the disc? if not, do that and see if that works.
I can't really get a handle on your problem - because you said swap magic doesn't work, yet in some of your posts you say that it freezes at a certain point in the game.. if swap magic wasn't working it wouldn't boot the game, that's the ONLY job swap magic does.. if anything is wrong in the actual game it's down to how it was rebuilt, burned or the media used.... i'm not having a go at you or anything, hell we're all new to this at some point.. I just need to know exactly what the problem is - it's probably something really simple to fix.
If the games were working fine until now - I'd try some better media, maybe you got hold of a bad batch.. get some taiyo yuden, verbatim or ritek discs 8x dvd-r.. you can get them at

Mostly I use the ritek as they are relatively cheap and they work great.

Consediring evrything u said i will anwser the questions in detail.
here i go.
1.My media and burner i havent changed them i still use the Sony made in japan discs and i can be more specific that they are made in tokyo as well.
2. bout games that used to work, right i backed-up bout 4 games exactly wich used to work untill now. they are FIFA 06 Wrld Cup, FIFA Street 2, Winning eleven 10 and The Godfather. The method i used are Dycripting them from the Orignal Game or maybe somtimes if i can't get hold of them i just borrow them from my mates or Download 'em'.
3. i use DVD-R's as they are more compatible wiv my PS2. im not sure bout DVD+R's becuase i dont know how to booktype them wiv Nero, but im pretty sure my burner are campable of doing it coz its a 1 yr old P.C that i have.
4. the way i burn my games are? of course if i have 8x discs i have to burn them half the rated disc speed so that makes em 4x. Dycripting it wiv DVD Dycripter and then if it needs a patch i just look at Swap Magic Fixes website and see or just search this forum. and then burn em wiv Nero.
5. and about Swap magic all i said is that wen i try to load i back-up game it gives me a error message "NOT A VALID PS2 DISC" SO NUFFIN WRONG WIV FREEZING AT ALL. the laser reads the disc normally it goes to the screen of swap magic and them i swap discs and press (X) nad get the message but what is really annyoing me is that it was working fine last wednesday now today its sunday it been nearly 1 week and 3 days.
so i really hope u can help.

I'm still sold that the Tool C has probably came out of place, since originals work it most likely isn't the laser, and that insert a ps2 disc is a ps2 message not SM, sounds like it's resetting sometime during the swap.

OK, well if swap magic is giving you the "not a valid ps2 disc" message then there's nothing wrong with swap magic as it's loading the boot program. That means there's something wrong with your backups.. try some different media, that's the only way we can find out what's wrong and tick things off one by one that could be going wrong... we all had to go through this stage to find out what works for us and our respective hardware. we can only suggest things that could be wrong, as we aren't there to help you do it.
