That is odd. What kinda of connection do u have? What are ur average upload and doewnload speeds? Have u tried limiting ur upload speeds?

Are u dl'ing torrents? Is so, are u chosing torrents that have a lot of seeders? Sounds like if u are, there are a hell of a lot more leechers than there are seeders. I was gonna say that ur ports are probably not forwarded, but if u dont have a router, guess that wont apply. Sorry I cant be of more help:(

is [10 leechers:2 seeds] a good ratio? or if its bad should my dl be going that slowly? oh yeah and does your speed matter on the client being used? i have bittornado and i read somewhere someone had the same problem as me and it was fixed when they used Utorrent instead...

ill change my client as soon as i finish dling what im dling and let you know if it helps

DEFINETELY use Utorrent 1.5, it is the best client i have ever used. 10 seeders and 2 peers is not a lot, especially when they are not all connected. I have a 2MB connction, and when i am connected to 10 seeders and 2 peers, my dl speeds are between 65-90 KBps. I would try to find a torrent with both more seeders and leechers, this will always help increase ur dl speeds. Also, u need to up ur upload max a bit, cause u have to share to receive.

ive changed my client to utorrent and it's MUCH MUCH better but my upload is still higher than my download

now my speed is 30kbps for dl and 40 kbps for ul

i think ill just stay away from BitTornado and if anyone out there is having the same trouble as me just change to utorrent, it helped me out a bunch

I'd make a wager that either:

your ports aren't forwarded correctly
or
your ISP uses traffic shaping (encrypt your headers)
or
your ISP uses traffic throttling (change your ports)
or
you don't have your upstream set to 80% of max
or
you're firewalled.

TomMelee, i know i must be on ur last nerve, but can u answer this??? If u dont have a router, is it possible to forward ports? I thought forwarding ports was just changing the setings in ur router to allow usage of the desired port/port range. Also, what ports do you recommend for Utorrent, searched the P2P forum and never really found anything pertaining to this. Thx for the info:)

Lol, no prob Bob.

If you don't have a router (or another computer functioning as one), there is no need to forward ports. I see now why you're asking--he said he has no router, oops. However, lots and LOTS of isp's are now shipping modems w/ routers built in, so it's very possible, I'd say close to likely even, that he DOES actually have a router in that box.

I've been using port 16185 for about 3 years now, I don't see any reason to go over the 60k mark. Just don't use one of these: http://www.i386.info/ports.htm

Want client are you using? if you are using the official client thats normal speed or if you are using bitcomet it is normal for up speed to go up to 34 kb and download remain at 3-4 kb but its not normal if you are using BitTornado.
use BitTornado for good speeds i sometimes experiance 1200 kb/s download speeds.
i reccomend you use BitTornado oh and it could be a prob with the tracker or torrent file.

BluRay, you are wincorrect.

If configured correctly, no client is any "faster" than any other client.

I can make BT/BC/BS/uT/Az/or the OG client all download @ max speed, but it's because I've taken the time to learn the settings.
