DVD Drive not reading discs

Yes, I have a DVD/Cd drive that doesn't recognize my discs. The drive is from my old computer and I installed the driver and updated the old one. So I checked my SCSI connection and it's in and working. So I then checked the properties and said the drive is working properly, but it still don't read my discs. Does aanyone know the problem could be?

My burner is a LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-812S. And does anyone know of a good driver for it.

upgrade your firmware for your burner,as that sets new write strategies for new media thats out..


Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. Every company has its own methods to allow you to do a firmware upgrade. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades. To find you firmware go to your burner homepage and find the firmware for you make and model.

I updated the firmware and my computer recognized the DVDRW/CDRW drive but it still doesn't read my discs or let me burn my back ups on my hard drive. What should I do?
