I have been trying for weeks to figure out why my Sony changer will not recognize a copy of Big Momma House 2. The DVD plays in my cheap 1 disc player without any problem. The Sony changer keeps saying disc error and recommend that I clean the disc or check for stratches before re-trying. I have made about 5-7 coasters trying everything I could. I have AnyDVD, Recode2, DVD Shrink, DVDFAB Decrpter, and VobBlanker. I was not successful with any of the above combination. I tried ripping to the harddrive with AnyDVD as well. I typically do not rip to the harddrive. All software are at the latest version.
I have an old HP DVD writer which I have burn over 400 disc with at 2X speed and recently bought a BENQ dw1655 writer a week ago. I had no luck burning the movie at 4X or 8X speed. I am using Verbatim DVD+R 16X disc. I have a 50pk and am down to ~10 disc with the only coasters being the ones from Big Momma House 2. To date I have tried copying from 3 original movie disc.
Again the copied disc plays on a second DVD player and plays on my computer. There is something unique to the Sony changer. I should mentioned that all the disc in the changer are DVD+R media. I started out with Memorex then after finding this website moved to TY and then back to Maxell and now Verbatim. This is the only movie that has given me this problem.
The video from my changer goes out to all rooms in the house so I would love to get the movie playing in my changer. Any help would be appreciated. I have not read any post of folks having similar problem.

Thanks,
BigDM

Make sure your firmware is current. Current f/w is BCHB http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2224

Download Qsuite http://www.benq.us/ServiceAndSupport/Drivers/drivers.cfm?product=816 and booktype your dvd+r's to dvd-rom. Burn your 16x rated media at 8x. You can verify your burns are booktyped dvd-rom with dvdidentifier http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ Give that a try and good luck.

Mort81, good try but everything you suggested I have tried. I burn no faster than 8X on the new drive and only 2X on the old drive. I already have QSuite, DVDINFO, DVD Identifer and Nero 6 Ultra. My booktypes are DVD ROM. Before I burn one disk on the BenQ I updated the firmware. Right now I am baffled since both my writers yield the same result.

Sounds like a compatability problem with your sony dvd changer. Have you tried any dvd-r's?

The only media I have tried in the sony changer was +R and +RW. Reason being is that I have a HP computer and the writer that came with it could only write to +R/RW media. My changer is supposed to be able to read -/+ R/RW media. Do you really think it is the media? The media code is showing up as MMC 004. Could one movie have an issue with type?

Hmm I missed the part about this being the only movie giving you problems. I don't know exactly what software you are using and what steps have been taken. If using vobblanker to edit, maybe you're removing a part of the dvd structure that is only affecting your dvd changer. If not you might try processing it through vobblanker. It's hard telling. I haven't done this movie yet.

When I used vobblanker, I used the default settings. I did not attempt to go into each VOB directory and start removing items. Also, I thought that AnyDVD did the same thing when I checked the blank box when ripping to the hardrive.

hey..... don't knock my sony 5 CD/DVD changer! It plays everything I feed it. I haven't had a problem with my sony EVER. I guess that with my dreaded philips 8631 that everyone seemed to have trouble with and now my sony changer that everyone seems to have trouble with..... I must be the luckiest guy on the planet, cause mine work great!LOL

and my copy of Big Mamma's House2 works great on all my players.

Oh well, no solution yet. I am going to try a different media this weekend. Do you think I should try the trial version of CloneDVD with AnyDVD.

There must be some issue with my Recode2. I used the trial version of CLONEDVD2 with AnyDVD and it worked find in my SONY changer. I did not change the media (Verbatim 16x).
