hello, i just bought a 5 port usb 2.0 pci card. It has 4 external connectors and 1 internal. I tried installing it into the pci bus and when i boot up windows and go to install the drivers for it, windows uses it as a usb 1.1 card. i don't know how to disable the onboard usb 1.1 on my mobo. but it sucks copying things at 1.5mb/s. this is a relatively old computer (from 2000)but i don't know what to do... any help at all please post a message here

First off, remove your email address from your post. Second, read the forum rules.
Did you install the drivers that came with the card, or allow windows to use its native drivers?

Did you install the drivers from the CD? Did it run a setup program or did you install them from Device Manager?
You should not have to disable the on-board USB 1.1 to have the 2.0 card work.

i did install it from the cd and after that was done, i plugged in a usb 2.0 cable (for my ipod) and a popup said 'this device can perform faster if plugged into a hi-speed port'. this is what's getting me frustrated bc i bought this for speed and not frustration :-P i would just like to get this up and running

Try moving it to a different PCI slot. Update the drivers through device manager (point it to the CD for the drivers) and see what happens.

Hmmm.......Update the driver through Device Manager and look for USB 2.0 or Enhanced Host Controller....something along those lines. Also, check your version of usbhost.sys. Under the file properties, it should say USB 1.1 and 2.0 etc, etc.......

He said it IS working, wich means a driver did install. I think he has outdated 1.1 USB drivers...not the current 2.0 drivers.

i have two (2) onboard usb 1.1 ports.
im trying to put in a pci card that is capable of doing hi-speed usb (usb 2.0) i can't get the card to function as a 2.0 capable card. right now the card is running at 1.1 speeds.
