iTunes M4p music is DRM protected. At present, there are only two ways to convert it to MP3. One is burning m4p to CD first, then ripping CD to MP3. This will waste some CD-Rs. The other is recording m4p to MP3 with Tunebite straight.

There are a couple programs that can convert music. Including TuneBite, Replay Music (applian Technologies), and many more. All of these will work but try this method first . . .

Open iTunes.
1. Select "Edit" then "Preferences"
2. Select the "Advenced" tab.
3. Select the "Importing" tab.
4. Were it says "Import Using" select "MP3 Encoder" in the drop-down menu. Then hit "OK"
5. Right click the song you want converted to MP3 and in the menu the pops-up from the right click select the option to "Convert Selection To MP3" this will make a MP3 copy of the song.
6. You now have 2 copys of the song. one in .mp4 and one in .mp3 you can delete the .mp4 one if you want or keep it. It really doesnt matter.

This should work if not the above mentioned ways are guarenteed

Well as far as I know there is a program called Jhymn that was supposed to be able to retrieve the "keys" that disables the DRM on the songs. But I believe it doesnt work with certain versions of the iTunes Music Store. So unless someone else knows of a way to strip the DRM from the files I give you my best wishes in getting through this.

AND...
You should let the RIAA know what a splenid time you have been having trying to get around DRM. Heres someting you might want to look into..

Anti-DRM group to take on RIAA

23 June 2006 10:21 by Davedough
The self proclaimed arch-nemesis of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the group collectively known as DefectiveByDesign is looking to bombard the RIAA with anti-DRM techniques to let them know that consumers will not stand for it.

The group has already led several marches and protests outside prominent executive offices dressed in yellow biohazard suits clearly making their statements. Their most recent action is to call-to-arms all consumers who oppose the use of DRM in commercially available products by allowing people to sign up and join their fight. Upon entry into the group, new users will receive all the contact information for the top dogs in charge of the RIAA (US), IFPI (Germany), BPI (UK), SNEP (France) and CRIA (Canada). This information enables you to speak out against DRM and let "the man" know exactly how you, the consumer, feels about it.
