Can anyone give me any clues as to a general generic file order for ps2 games. I have a couple of games that I need the file orders for at the moment and this problem has come up on numerous occaisions.

Any help would be great...

list the games, that way if someone has it, and is willing to be nice, they can open their copy in ISO Buster and give you the order.

cheers steimy,

did try that though some time ago, and no-one replied to my post. The game is NASCAR 2006, but theres been a few times Ive been in the same situation and was instructed by a senior member that there was a sticky somewhere that listed a specific order that all games had in common. Alot of these rebuilding guides say to make the windows file folder narrow after extracting with iso buster, and then put them into iso builder in reverse order, but i fail to see how this would work since windows automatically puts them as alphabetical, hence wrecking the orginal order?

That's because you've misunderstood what dan meant. There's no 'generic' file order.
He meant there's a specific individual file order for every individual game, and that every game follows its own individual file order.

Thanks ace.

Thats slightly more files than i was hoping for, I was expecting about 8 lol. I take it that list is the within the 8 files/folders that I have?

must have mis-understood. It was Dan that I was speaking to, and he said quote:

'Have a look in the sticky about rebuilding games - there's a set order in which the files goes in, and they are the same for all games'

cheers ace, my mission may still have hope in it yet

just use Nero to rebuild the games,no file order is needed, only when you use cd/dvd gen do you need the file order

Actually, file order is required, particularly if the game has LBA protection, in which case Nero will do you no good.

alright then you need the order,...
i suppose all the games i have rebuilt for other people, without bothering with the order dont work.
its something i use to bother with, but soon realised it dont matter much
i have not come across any games with lba protection that actually need rebuilding anyways.
but each to there own hey

I have to agree with hursty. I've never put the files into an exact order when burning in Nero...and have yet to get a Coaster.

That is way too many files, there should only be a few files and a few folders total.
And you will be fine using Nero Burning Rom to rebuild it as long and no single file is over 2GB

I'm sure you've both got FIFA Street & FIFA Street 2?
Those both had LBA protection, hence the reason a normal rebuild didnt work & a special patch by Gnie was required.

yeah, forgot about those 2 :),but these type of games are rare, and although those 2 games needed the TOC reducing,i wouldnt have put them in the "need rebuilding" category,if you know what i mean
and having the order for those 2 games wouldnt have made any difference anyways,as like you say, they needed a patch
but in general terms no file list is required
and in nascar 2006's case,Nero would work.
i know what your saying ace1uk tho :)

Anyway, most times whjen people "request" the file order for games.. it's because they misunderstood how to make the rar files they downloaded into an ISO and burn it.. they usually go a step too far and end up with the files instead. If this happens, just look around in your folders for a single file between 1.5 and 4.3Gb typically.. that should be the ISO file, most times this happens because they have ISO extension assosciated with WinRAR instead.
I've never seen a game that someone's posted the files for instead of the ISO to download.. LOL
And anyone that's got the original can see the file order by using iso buster/apache2 etc

thanks for your help guys,

I'm not a novice and have been doing this for some time now. I threw away the original as it was a Coaster, presumably because it was EA and required rebuilding as most EA games do. I extracted the files from the iso with iso-buster ready to rebuild and deleted the original iso (normally do this because I'm on my last 4.7 gig of hard drive space :.))

I have tried the Nero iso/udf burning method and it still doesnt work, maybe because of protection but i dont know. Theres a few too many files there for my liking. Had a go using the files that i had in the order that they appeared in that long list, but produced another Coaster.

Does anyone have the iso buster list of a working copy?

Thanks again guys

I use newsgroups instead of torrents as theyre are just so damned fast and quite alot of the time peaople have uploaded the files and not the iso. It is quite annoying and about the only thing I do miss about using torrents.

the order above is in alphabetical order, which was my problem in the first place. Nero doesnt work and I do have all the files that are listed above. Fifa games are EA aswell so maybe it is protected too? If anyone has the order of a working Nascar 2006 as listed in isobuster, can you please post it, thanks in advance.

Don't know if that's the correct order, but if you're using Nero UDF/ISO option in burning rom it shouldn't matter.

cheers for the help. I used Nero udf/iso method and it didnt work, I am pretty certain its the file order rthats wrong as I have all the files listed above and it still doesnt work. the list above is in alphabetical order which presumably windows has kindly done because thats my problem. I originally had the game working, I had the files on the computer ready to back up another copy but windows changed the file order to alphabetical and now not even Nero can save me. if someone can give me the file order as it appears in isobuster then im sure my problem will be solved

The file order I gave you, is how it appears in IsoBuster! Dont use Nero to rebuild a game. Use Sony CDVDGenerator 2.0, drag & drop all the files in, change the appropriate disc name etc under the Volume tab, then under FILE, choose to extract .iml
Then use Gnie's PS2DVD IML2ISO to create the iso file.

i tried that first dude. no luck, the order u listed is how I tried it originally- alphabetical a-z, thats the order that windows put them in ie. the order that i had them in already. Ive never given up on a single backup that ive tried to make over the years, but this one might have to be the first, its definitely beating me, and my original thread is like 3 months old now! how do yu get isobuster to show you all those file names? im very surprised that the original file order was in alpahabetical order- ive never seen this before

Hate to tell you this, but its not strictly in alphabetical order! It might look it at 1st glance, but its certainly not. And besides, thats the order the files are in on my 100% working retail disc.

how big is the game size? if it is over 4gb then you might want to put the slus and system.cnf files in first.
