Yep the problem is almost definitely the media you're using.. and maybe the burn speed too, set it to 4x on 8x discs for best results. On most of the tutorials on here it mentions what media sucks and what's good to use too.. memorex gets mentioned a lot as crap media!!
Also, have a look at my "checklist" thread in the stickies about downloading and installing latest WNASPI drivers..
good luck with your backups

make sure your media can support the speed you burn at. I burned at 1X before and the game moved at 1 fps lol exagerated, but anyway i always burn at 4X

No you need to change this manually. I can't remember the exact procedure but I think you right click on the DVD writer in DVD Decrypter, then there's an option to change the booktype

If you can't do it then don't worry too much about it. The PS2 should still read the disc, some of my discs are not booktyped and they work perfectly on my pS2

Booktyping the DVDs is a compatibility issue - some PS2s won't read the discs unless you booktype them, but most should read DVD+R without problems

Just out of interest - where did you order your taiyo yuden from? I've never seen them in a 50pk before?
If the taiyo yudens don't work, you may have to switch to DVD-R discs instead.. I've always used them, but have tried a few itmes with dvd+r's too.. and I get better results with the DVD-R.
Hopefully it won't come to that though.. good luck man

Ahh I see - i'm from the UK and I can only get them in 100Pk.. most of the time I stick to using ritek though as they're much cheaper and still work brilliantly.. the TY's are £30 for 100pk, whereas the ritek are around £18 for 100.

Lol, the TYs here in New Zealand are about the same cost, if not a little more expensive. I stick with Ritek or Verbatim most of the time as they are a bit cheaper and works fine for me

Aah ok.. hopefully they'll be the correct ones and not fakes - I don't have any experience of that store at all. When you get them, use this program called disc identifier 403 - available at my "programs check here" thread - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/292163
it's really easy to use, basically pop a disc in the drive, select the drive, select the type of disc it is dvd+r/dvd-r and then hit "identify" button.. you can copy that info to the clipboard and then paste the info here for us to see... hopefully it'll be ok

Can't you do that with DVD Decrypter as well instead of getting another program? Lol I just don't like having so many programs on my computer :)

right mate here is a basic list of what ur doin rong
1.Burn speed some times the lowest burn speed is bad NOT good burn at half the speed of you dvd-r's
2.Get some good discs not those weird memorex things just because there a international brand dont mean there any good! Use Virbatim i had never heard of them until i started to backup games.
Thats about it try to correct the problems on here and then try
Toshiba Laptop 100Gb HDD
iPod Nano 2nd Gen 4GB

Ok the guy's already got some TYs on the way and quite a few people's already suggested that he burn at 4x (with 8x disks)... no offense but I don't think we need 3 or 4 people telling him the exact same thing :)
