i burned some games to philips 1-16x DVD-R media. i just read that it is unreliable media. is it horribly unreliable? and if so, would it make any sense to copy those discs to high quality media(prolly not)?
its listed as 3rd class, so its not the most reliable but its not the worst. i recommend verbatim or taiyo yuden. im sure almost everyone on this site would agree with that, even tho im using ritek rite now and they seem pretty good
Look, just burn the game as sloooowww as u possibly can. I have some games on what would probably be called the lowest form of media possible (Princo or some shit) and the games play fine! Now the majority of my games I use Sony. But then again, don't listen to me< I'm a newbie!
ok look, burning slow doesnt make it come out better. sometimes, burning slow is worse. just burn it at the max and use good quality discs. its not that hard
I dont understand people who say PS2 dont like 16x media...i use them and they work fine!! Might not work if you burn at 16x i suppose but they will if you burn at 4x or 8x...
i backupped a game with phillips in the past...worked fine! You might of just got unlucky
All I know, is I use Sony DVD's and I burn them between 1-4x's. All my games come out perfectly as if the Manufacturer did them themselves. The best way to solve this debate is that "Everyone takes a different road , but we all meet up at the same destination!!"
It is not the brand of media, it is the fact that it is 16X which is the worst speed. I bought some as a test once, also Philips, and have had trouble finding anything that they are good for. I did get a game to work on them burning at 4X, but it was just luck. Even a few movies worked but my burning programs hate them and throw me a lot of read errors when i stick in the blanks.
The Philips 8X DVD-R on the other hand i have had 100% success with over the 2 years that i used them. So 3rd class or not they are top notch in my book. Never had a laser problem, never had a game stop working.
Now i have since switched to Taiyo Yuden to give those a shot and so far they have worked out great. Plus i love the fact the the type i bought are a completely blank top, meaning that there is no writing on the disc s there is plenty of room to write on it with a sharpie marker. That and the fact that they are not real expensive as you can get 100 DVD's for $39.00 and have the very best.
