HI guys i wanted to backup the Sims 2 onto my hdloader and when i did some research, it said it should work just fine. When I start the game the SIms 2 screen is kinda messed up (has black parts on the screen) and the vid works fine but when i reach the first loading screen it freezes =[ anyone have any ideas? i'm re installing it right now to see if i have better luck a second time and i tried all the mode combinations i believe. please help. much appreciated

What version is your HDLoader? Have you tried the latest 0.8a?

OK so you have the very original version of HDLoader... do you have a way to boot backups? If you do you can get a free version of the patched HDLoader from http://www.sksapps.com/

i just want a thread that tells me how to patch my original hdloader with 0.7c or e i don't know if there's much of a difference I don't really want to go through the whole hassle of downloading the whole program

If you looked at that site you'll find that the program is less than 1mb... now I don't think that's more trouble than patching your own copy of HDLoader is it?
And either way, you'll need a modded PS2 to run a patched version of HDLoader

well actually i looked into it and was wondering if you knew which one of the hdloaders i should download to work best with the sims 2?
http://www.sksapps.com/index.php?page=hd.html
should i get the HDLoader 7C - UDMA - ELF? or the HDLoader 7C - MDMA - ELF ? or any others that would best suit my needs?
Thank you for your time

Get 8A - it's the newest version, it's got everything that 7E has and more :)

Ok as I mentioned before you need a way to boot backups (modchip, swap magic) to boot this, one way you could try is to download the ISO file of HDLoader 0.8a and install it on your HDD (i.e. treat it like a CD-based game), I'm not sure if that works, but worth a try if you don't have a modchip (which sounds like you don't?)

ok if you have swap magic, then what you can do is get the ISO of HDLoader 0.8a and burn it to a CD, and load it using that, and it'll be just like your old HDLoader, but better :)
Also I think swap magic can boot programs from the memory card? If that's the case you might want to consider putting HDloader on your memory card (if you have enough space on it that is - it'll take a few hundred kb and the sony MC is only 8mb), but that's another matter... you can just swap it and HDLoader will work :)

I think the red screen means that the disk is not a valid PS2 disk or something...? Um not sure what the problem is as I haven't used swap magic for a long time, but a few questions... which file did you download, what media did you use and how did you burn the file??

um ok it should work cos i know some other guys who did that and it works... there's a readme.txt file in the .rar file you downloaded have a look in there to see if there's anything you missed. One thing is maybe try burning at a slower speed, otherwise try burning with a DVD disk as PS2 tend to like those better

The 8a download contains ISO, BIN, and CUE files. Do all of them need to be burned to the CD/DVD or just the ISO?
Thanks

either you use Swap magic to boot HDLOADER .8a or you d/l the ELF Files and Create a Memory Card Exploit and boot it that way...

burn the .cue file, that contains information about what needs to be burnt to the disk :)
yep it's like how you would go about with a game disk - swap magic, flip top, HDLoader
