This may have been answered before and yes I have searched the forums before posting, but I heard that PS2 CD taxes the PS2 pretty heavy. Is it possible to burn your PS2 CD image to DVD? I know it is a waste of media (space) but if it would prolong the life of my laser, it is worth it.

You need to rebuild & change the media checks in the elf, IOP & system files from CD to DVD. You'd also need to create a largish dummy file, or place the 1st file high up the TOC as well, or it won't be accepted as a DVD sized image.

search for 'rez' in these forums, someone wanted to put that on to a dvd and someone replied with a simple guide.

i think that guy wanted it on dvd so he could play it with swap magic.

Anyways, yeah. I've burned PS2 CD images into DVDs easily. I burnt games such as ICO, MVC2, an dthe Taiko games.

Just use this guide and follow everything carefully.
