I own Prince of Persia The Two Thrones (so this isn't piracy) and I wanted to make a back up of it. I know I should've looked it up more but I have Alcohol 120 and put in the game disc, clicked image making wizard and copied it to my computer. I didn't notice I could have it copy as an ISO instead I copied it as .mds I didnt think anything of it because I didnt need a new copy at the time. Now I lost my original copy and I went back to burn the copy I made no my pc. When I put it in my PS2 (I have Swap Magic 3.6 so I know how to use backups) It doesn't bring up the Playstation 2 logo it just brings up the Prince of Persia Two Thrones Loading screen (black screen with gold words LOADING at the bottom right hand corner) but there it freezes. Is it because I burnt it as an .mds or can I fix it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for you time.

You can convert .mds to .iso using IsoBuster, just for future reference.

you CAN do it... I don't see what's the advantage of doing that though

Well, there's no real advantage, but if he's unsure/uncomfortable using .mds & .mdf files, then he can do it to work with an .iso file he's comfortable with.

so basically, all you have to do is back it up, using slow speeds, good media, etc??

Yes, good media is a key factor, and so is burning speed.
I always stick to the rule of burning a disc at half the speed that it is rated for.
Like burn an 8X DVD at 4X
and never buy 16X disc as they are a total waste of good money.

Quality Media: (i prefer 8X DVD-R)
Taiyo Yuden- top of the heap
Verbatim- also very good
Philips- not top of the line but has worked great for me
TDK- hit or miss depending on the pack you buy, so don't buy them at all.
Sony- have not tried them but heard they are good.
Maxcell- same as above
