Method: cog swap
DVD brand: Compusa DVD+R 4x
burning program: Nero 6 & DVD Decrypter
Ive gotten one of my backups to work with the method, but now all my other dvd backups arent working. it seems like its going past the cogswap screen but then freezing at black. It looks like its trying to load the game but hasnt. I dont want to use other dvds to burn more because i know that i burned these correctly. Any suggestions?

Sounds, to me, like another media issue.

Just because they worked the first time on 'iffy' media, doesn't mean that they'll ever boot up again. I'd try high class media.

Well actually, that one burn has worked over and over again. I keep using it to make sure i can actually still use backups. But these other two backups havent been able to play at all.
and at one point, the dvd was scratched so i just burned another copy of the same iso and it worked again. Please dont tell me im just lucky.

Try cleaning your laser with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) to see if that helps it out. You might also have to try adjusting your laser (white cog), but be careful with that...it can be tricky!

ok, a few tips.
1. i would go with 8X DVD-R and not the 4X DVD+R
The V4 has been known to not read +R good at all.
2. Make your back up with DVD Decrypter and not Nero, Nero is ok but doesn't do a fantastic job with games
3. make sure nothing else is running on the PC when burning
4. what games are not working, just in case someone knows that they need to be rebuilt to work.

I can tell you that i have heard the phrase a 1000 time "i know i burned it correctly"
But the fact is that if you burned it correctly on quality media they would work. I have never had one not work if burned the right way. You mat also want to look into Swap Magic as it is the prefered way of loading back ups for most people. That or get a good modchip which is my prefered method.

thx but i got them all working, i just needed a game with higher data than the one im trying to load. So dmc has 4.3gb (i believe) and it should work. just need my friend to give it back.

Could try rebuilding the game you're trying to load so it has a smaller TOC / LBA and it should work
