Greetings All!
I have been using Azureus for about 8 months. I uninstalled it for a few months and then recently reinstalled it.
Since then I have noticed that Azureus is behaving very different than it used to.
I believe I am not connected to most of the Seeds (&Peers) because the console reports this:
Seeds: 4 (207)
Peers: 8 (153)
Someone told me that they number of seeds & peers inside the parenthesis are available, but I am not connected to them.
First, I do have green smileys, and pass the NAT firewall test, so I don't think that is the cause.
Before, if I had a swarm of about 200 seeds available, I could connect to almost all of them. But now, if there are 200 Seeds available, I can only connect to 2 or 3. And download speeds are very, very slow.
I've set Max Open Connections to "0" (unlimited) to no effect, and have messed all the other settings too.
If anyone could help, I would be very appreciative.
Thanks in advance,
Billy

Turn ON encryption in your settings (third option down in the first options tree) and make sure the fallback rule is checked.
If you've got sp2, you need to dl the patch to increase maximum connections. And other than that, you really don't need more than 100, setting to 0 can actually slow you down.
It's also VERY possible that your IP has found its way onto a blocklist, maybe from a shifty ISP or an educational institution, etc, and there's not much you can do about that, other than beg bluetack to take it off, and good luck w/ that.

THanks, I had never heard of a patch for SP2 for max connections, I'll go look for it.
Also, this is SBCGlobal, so I don't think it's blacked out. I have my port in the 50,000 range also.
Also, I'll adjust the encryption. It was on, then I turned it off. I'll turn it back on again...
Thanks,
BIlly

Okay, I searched afterdawn and google for "azureus patch" and nothing jumped out at me as being what you described. Can you post a title or (better) a d/l link ?
Also, I am going on vacation next week, and would like to set the computer to turn on automatically (a BIOS function) but then also I want Azureus to automatically launch and start downloading.
I had thought there was a switch in the Azureus configuration settings to "launch with windows" or similar but I can't find anything.
Further, I set up an icon is Task Manager and set it to launch Azureus on Start Up, but it failed to do so 2 times in a row.
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance,
Billy

That patch is made by lvllord, just google his name.
And it's not for Azureus, it's to fix connections in general with SP2.

Okay I installed the patch. When I did it, it looked familiar like I did it a while back. But I have re-installed WinXP since then, so it is probably due.
No "phenomenal" results, but it seems slightly better. Maybe wishful thinkig. Also I enabled encryption and set it to "plain" thinking that would be more versatile than RC4, which might be unavailable to others.
Does it matter ?
I think I will start a separate thread for the Azureus turning on at startup question.
Thanks again, I'll come here crying if things don't get better in a few hours/days.
;)
Also, is there a better tweak guide than what Azureus wiki and afterdawn has, with more advanced settings and greater detail ?
Thanks in advance,
Billy
