Hello everybody, I am new to this forum. I have a problem with my new computer. I have had no difficulties installing and using my wanadoo adsl on my old computer. On my new one everything worked fine. the internet connection is made but after a little while ( sometimes an hour, sometimes longer or shorter) the connection just quits on me without an error message. Can anybody help me? This has been going on for a week now. All firewalls are off, I am using windows xp sp2 on a Athlon 3500+ 64 bit with 1024 mb internal

Does it quit while you are using it, or only if it sits??? If its only when it sits, I bet its yor power management turning off the NIC to save power. Right click My Computer, and go to properties. Click the hardware tab, then select device manager. Find your network card, and right click and go to properties. The rightmost tab should be power management. Uncheck "allow windows to.....". This will prevent windows from disabling your NIC due to inactivity.

Hi there, thanks for the advice. I have found an thernet controller and unchecked the powermanagement box. But I don't think there is a relation between the ethernet controller and the adi usb remote ndis network device that is used for the internet connection. Or am I mistaking? :) My connection is working so far but this can be a matter of minutes...

If the USB ethernet adapter continues to give you trouble, just pic up a linksys NIC. They go fro about $10-$15. Much more reliable connection than the USB.
