I'm looking for a new pmp i've got a PSP and an ipod mini (4gb) but my ipod as well as my psp simply don't have enough storage. I also don't want to spend the time to play to play black and white movies on my ipod mini (which is possible). I've been looking at the Archos AV500 and the Cowon iAudio A2 ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AQDOKM/ref=pd_cp_e_title/104... ; http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CS1JRS/sr=1-1/qid=1151536301... ).
I'm very attracted to the line-in video recording, so unless another completely sweeps me off my feet I won't take anything less. How large and which format are line-in files stored as and are they accesible (for removing and viewing on your computer)? = Cowon iAudio A2

=Archos AV500

I like the large storage of the AV500 but it lacks a PVR Programming function for TV, which comes with the Cowon 1Audio A2. Is there any in between fix which has shares an in between price as money is a concern as I'm only fourteen, but I can fork up the cash, as I got a well-paying summer-job.

Do any other PMPs have a PVR function (I guess that goes hand-in-hand with the line-in video recording)?

From what I gather the Cowon iAudio A2 has a greater library of compatible formats

If anyone has experienced either or any similar products please inform me.

P.S. Since the Cowon and I think Archos have a USB host feature could I potentially connect it to the PSP and copy movies or sumthing of that natue?

Well I thought I'd put that in thre because I thought ppl might be interested. You can use the ipod program ipod linux. It works on all ipods I know of anyway I'm not an expert on it but it was quite easy to get the games onto my ipod mini and when I decided I didn't want them anymore I just re-installed the firmware. It's a simplified program so give it a shot. However the conversion of the movies is a bit trickier. You can get the program here: http://ipodlinux.org/Main_Page

Why not just convert your movies to PMP AVC and play them on your PSP using jonnys app PMP MOD. Get the 4gig card, 200megs for an hour half movie and the quailty is excellent.

I thought about that but the 4 gig is pretty expensive. I've got a 1 gig that I got as a gift and I was going to use it for homebrew and did but I accidentally upgraded. As I think is becoming clearer in my mind what I'm looking for the most is the ability to record straight noto the advice just like a PVR.

Which firmware did you upgrade to?

If it is firmware 2.5/2.6 you can downgrade using the new downgrader.
And if its 2.01 you can upgrade to 2.5 and then downgrade.

If you do have 2.5/2.6 and a wireless router then check my guide:

about the 1st post

ive used the RV500 and it is good but ive not seen that cowon one before so i couldn't compare the two. I did like the RV500, it has a fairly long battery life and is easy to use, if that helps.
