This for anybody that found the ripkit readme to be extremely unhelpful. Figured it out finally, hope this helps some people:)

1.Get the kit from ps2nfohttp://www.ps2nfo.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&file=viewarticle...

2.Start the .exe and open your tenchu iso

3.Click "save iso and apply fix"

4.Make a new folder, and choose to save the patched iso in that folder

5.Let the patcher do its thing

6.Open up the patched iso with UMD Gen and extract the PSP_GAME data into another new folder (or the one where you saved the patched iso)

7.Go back to the .exe tool and select "open folder where psp_game is located" and choose the folder where the extracted PSP_GAME folder is

8.When done ripping, open up UMD Gen again and put the ripped PSP_GAME folder in the patched iso, and save the iso

9.Now you have the working iso, play it as-is or Ciso it to get it under 300MBs.

Hope this helped, have fun:)

if you're a n00b what's a notch just under that? cause if you're a n00b for messing w/ it a bit, I ain't even skrewed w/ it yet... so I'm like a n000b v2.0?

Thanks, dude. :)

The only n00bs are the people who dont try to learn and expect everything on a silver platter, you definetely dont fall in that category:)

I've already made my own rip of the game by dummying all the language files and it didn't work and so I have a question about this ripkit. Exactly what does it rip out of the game? Do you still have the background music, sfx, cutscenes, opening intro etc.? Or do you have to sacrifice all of that?

P.S: Also, is there any evidence of this game working with DevHook v0.41d? What are you guys using to make it run? UMDEmulator?

P.S.2: Does anyone know which is the best tool for dummying files? Currently I use YAUIS v3.0a but its not too good. Any recommendations?

I'd greatly appreciate the help.

EDIT: Ok, I just tried to follow the tut to rip the game but I ran into a wall. Everything goes fine until the part where I have to extract the PSP_GAME folder from the patched ISO. For some reason, UMDGen v3.02 doesn't like the patched ISO file and freezes up when I try to open it. I've also noticed that the patched ISO has a filesize of 0kb. Can anyone help? Thanks.

LOL, if the patched iso is 0kb then you are not patching it correctly, obviously. it takes at least 5 minutes to patch. Its obvious that if the patched iso is 0 kb why it would be hard to extract the PSP_GAME folder from the iso using UMD_Gen.......

Im not going to spoonfeed you, you should by know that devhook is necessary.

LOL, use the option provided by UMD Gen......its not necessary as the rip kit does this for you

I do not expect to be spoonfed. I was just wondering if anyone has used some other emulator to TRY to get it working. Curiosity is not a sin. Also, I asked about dummying because I'm getting tired of waiting for this ripkit to sort itself out and so I wanted to do it myself.

Anyways, I think theres something wrong with my ripkit. When I click 'Apply Fix and Save ISO', a dialog box opens up saying 'Rip/Fix Created by skirocet'. After I click ok, in about 2 seconds, I get another dialog box that says 'Fix has been applied'. If what your saying is correct, it should take longer than two seconds and the fix isn't working properly.

I'm going to re-download a copy of the fix and try it again. I'll edit soon...

EDIT: Sorry. No Dice. Any suggestions? I don't know why its doing this. It ends up with a filesize of 0kb. I got the patch directly from PS2NFO - twice! Anybody got any ideas?

EDIT 2: I tried something else too. I actually tried patching the 1.66 GB ISO with the PPF Patch available on PS2NFO. I used UMDGen v3.02 for this and funnily enough, it gave me an error message saying 'The size of the File/ISO isn't correct.'. I checked the filesize in bytes (Right Click -> Properties) and it matches the readme to the dot. Anyways, I chose to continue with the process and it came up with a 'PPF Patch Applied Successfully' message. Then I just deleted the Update, GE, IT, FR and SP folders and recompiled the ISO. Guess what... IT STILL DOESN'T WORK!!! I'm at a loss here. Any sugggestions? BTW, can someone explain exactly what a PPF Patch is?

Ok, so I'm having the same problem as jd, my iso is 1.66Gb which it should be yet after the patcher runs I get a iso sized 0kb. I even tried changing the file name to "original"

Any ideas? Maybe a bad dump?

Yep, that ripkit did it. Working perfectly now. Dusk, did you use DevHook to play the game right from the start or did you use DAX ZISO Loader v0.62 to play the first mission and then carry on with DevHook? Anyways, Thanks a bunch all of you!

Ok so my bad, you'll have to use dax for the first three levels and the switch to devhook if you want to after that.. and I was wondering what the bloody hell was going on.. maybe I should follow instructions ...lol
