Personally I dont like any Nero versions since 7.0.8.2 so what I recommend is to uninstall, run this clean tool
http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and install 7.0.8.2 a stable version of Nero7.

You also have Roxio installed, it clashes with Nero, to remove run this zapper http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

Heres something on Roxio http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/354692

your drive looks confused here, it thinks you are trying to burn 4.3 gb onto a dual layer disc

i don't think your drive supports d/l burning, and i don't believe it supports -r media

what media are you using ?

Hi mel86
Just to add to Gwen's & gurnard posts.
Quote:
Reading disc failed
What type of DVD is this? (commercial or a copy) The log shows the source DVD as just being a +R so my guess would be a copy?
Your drive is telling you it doesn't like this source disc - try cleaning it off.
You can also try ripping with DVD Decrypter which is a better ripper imho than Nero. Then open those files in Nero to burn.

Hey Gwen so you've been seeing alot of read discs errors with this version? Let me know - I'll try and reproduce on my PC - just need the details.

Thank you all for your replies.

To answer your questions, I use DVD+R media.
In this instance I was trying to copy a DVD that I created. The original I used was a 'TDK DVD+R Single sided DVD+Recordable Data/Video 4.7GB 1-8X'

I've tried to do this a few times using different programs incl DVD Decrypter, and it too doesn't work.

hi mel86 :)
it could be a case of using inferior media
Quote:
'TDK DVD+R Single sided DVD+Recordable Data/Video 4.7GB 1-8X'
not the best by any means i'm afraid

try some better media as in in my sig, in your case seeing as you have to use +r
Ritek R03+r....Verbatim MCC.004+r or some TY's

the trouble with poorer media is that you can lose your data in as short a time as a week (not lost as gone completely) they will play up to a point on your player. your pc being more picky it becomes impossible to copy

@qwen :)
god your quick, i'm going to have to learn how to type faster

It sounds like gurnard said - this disc may be going south on you.
Here's a another program to try to rip the data off of it (I just use the free version)
http://isobuster.com

If you have access to another pc you may want to try the drive in that one - some are better at ripping 'problem' discs than others. I would use DVD Decrypter or isobuster on it also.
