I also played backup Kingdom Hearts 2, it's on Verbatim DVD-R 16X.
The game plays OK, but the loading between scenes is very sloooow:
average 15 to 25 seconds of waiting for about every couple minutes
of playing. The PS2 slim is new and v13, and I use SwapMagic Coder
v3.8.

The files that I had were "KH2.MDF" and "KH2.MDS". But I renamed
the first file to "KH2.ISO" so that I could burn it using
DVDDecrypter. The DBD-R burn process went through smoothly, no error.

But now I wonder if my renaming method might have caused some
kind of anomaly on the DVD-R content layout? and result into
slow loading? Any comment would be appreciated.

KH2 has been reported to run slow, I think it's just the game that's the problem.

Also I don't see why you needed to rename the files, you could've just burnt the mds file with DVD Decrypter and it would've worked the same

Try burning it on another disc. At first I burned it on a Ridata DVD-R at 4x and it loaded once but the scenes took LOOOOOOOOOONNGG to load like 1 to 2 minutes of waiting. The disc stopped loading after that one try so I just burned it on a taiyo yuden and the long loading went away and now loading takes like 5 to 10 secs.

16x media has very mixed results with the PS2, it's best to use quality 8x Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Those 16x TDK's could be CMC Mag, especially if they're Made in Taiwan. If they're Made in Japan, they could be TTH media code, which isn't that great either, contrary to what some people say. DMS chips will produce a random blackscreen. A side of effect of almost all modchips is the occasional RSOD. I get it 5%-10% of the time with my MI. That's normal.

downloaad your copy and stop burning it yourself. my downloaded copy plays identicle to the original. usually the downloaded copies are already done perfectly.. USUALLY. it depend son the demand for the game i assume. Cause i could burn the downloaded kigndom hearts 2 on a damn piece of toast and it would spin and play just fine on a playsation negative 3.

Actually, there's far more chance of an iso you download not working, than an original copy. Most groups who upload know what they're doing, but they don't always test the iso with both a modchip and Swap Magic. I've had far more issues with crappy downloads than 1:1 backups I did myself. Look at some of the infamous nukes like WWEvsSmackdown 2006. If you rip it yourself and the game is in good condition, there's virtually no chance of error if you use quality media and burn practices. In general 90% of game releases do work.

My version works fine, with Maxell 16x discs. At first, I tried it, with 1 and 2x, and the loading times were horrible, even hit-and-miss. This was the same with every game.

However, as it's been said - Burn it at 8x, if you have 16x discs. It will work perfect.

That was an old release of Smackdown, it was nuked a long time ago. I was just pointing out a well known example of a botched release. The DVD-9 version of Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition didn't work off disc with a modchip, though it would work off the HD. A 1:1 backup of it worked perfectly. If at all possible, I'd rather backup an original, that way I know nothing will go wrong, assuming the disc isn't too scratched to rip. Of course there's money involved, so downloading is often easier.

Yes thats what i like to go with. Easier and for me personally. Less of a chance of messing up. Burning ahuge disc that just shows the sega saturn logo... on my ps2.. what the hell did i do. why is bill gates on the sega logo. this isnt metal gear solid 3...
Anyway enough of that rant. Long as you are us ing the irght media it seems downloading is more accurate for most people. Long as they are downloading from a populated point.

Yeah it's all good man, whatever works for you. I get games both ways, rarer old games are hard to find originals of. If you like Jamaal's work, man you should stop by Xtreme-Source.com, he and I are both moderators there.

yeah but on my outnote. I have no idea why kingdom hearts 2 worked for me perfectly on a trashy TDK DVD+R 16x worked better than any disc i have. even my vert a whatevers. (sorry i forgo ttheir name)
then again i haven tburned kh2 on one of those. but as i said no load time glitching or anything. noskips no stutters. not one. It was the first game I ever burned.... sadly i thought all my games would come out like that... I was heavily mistaken.

Edit: Oh and I will definitly stop by if thats the case. You both seem like cool guys. and i love this rock lee
