yes... free.

i bought a AMD 4200 computer, i've had nothing but problems with it, HP is going to provide me with a free upgrade. i can have a intel 3.0 dual core, or an AMD FX-55 dual core, my choice.

which do you recommend i take? can i please have a few opinions?

i say AMD, but i just want to hear what you think too, just to make sure i'm making the right choice.

i don't do design or anything, but i do play games.

i don't care about the name, i care about performance.

which of these two specific processors will perform the best overall?

If you game then you will want to go with the FX-55.

doesn't the extreme edition have 1000 FSB?

the AMD has 2500 FSB.
