I am trying to Convert .MP4 files to .AVI or MPEG (video file with an mp4 extension) so I can Then Convert Them to Disc Using VSO's ConvertXtoDVD... Aparently .MP4 files are only partialy supported and when Converted I end up with good video but SuperSlowMotion Audio.... So back to the Point... I have the full TMPGEnc Software Suite 2005which includes TMPGEnc Plus v2.524.63.181... Now I don't have much experience with this program but I have been told that it can Convert .MP4 files to .AVI in this old/dead tread to which I cannot post:

You can convert to AVI with TMPGEnc. First you need to install the QT MOV plugin( http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/4942/svcd.html ). You may need to install 3ivx too( http://www.3ivx.com/ ). Open your mp4 with TMPGEnc, go to File>Output To File>AVI File, select your compression settings and click "save".
I have no clue what is with this plugin business... Could Someone please explain it to me in simple step form english or let me know a better program to Convert .MP4 (video file with an mp4 extension) to an .AVI or .MPEG file if TMPGEnc Plus won't work so I can use ConvertXtoDVD to get them on DVD disc... Thanks

Decent chance that your mp4 contains ASP MPEG-4, HP AVC (or even MP with more than one bframe) or he-AAC. Quicktime can't handle any of them. Basically QT's mp4 support sucks. ConvertXtoDVD is no longer using libavcodec/format? Because they can handle mp4, HP AVC, he-AAC, ASP, etc. just fine.

How can I find out what kind of .MP4 it is so I can ask that Question on the ConvertXtoDVD forum "cdr-zone.com" ... ??? I have many encoding programs now such as:

TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress
TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus
VirtualDub
WinAVI
VideoReDo
Nero 7 Ultra

There has gotta be a way I can convert them with say TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress, TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus, or WinAVI as everyone I have spoken to so far say they don't have any problems converting with any of these... My God I Can't Stand This .MP4 Crap !!!

mp4 is not crap. It is a proper standard. I had a look at convertXtoDVD and it is still using libavcodec/format, so it should handle mp4's fine. No idea how old a source it is using. Also, states that it is modified. No idea what modifications since there doesn't appear to be any source code. You might want to ask about that. Then I could release bavcodec.dll, etc. when I do ffmpeg builds.

TMPGEnc, etc. should be able to convert mp4's fine via dshow. You just need to have a splitter and decoders installed (say Haali's splitter and FFDShow). Same goes for anything else that renders input via dshow.

You might also want to check out AVIDemux.
