You get that error message cos it's a DVD9 game that needs ripping to DVD5 & I don't think Gnie's tool will do that

With a lot of hard work normally. You need to rip enough content out so it'll fit on DVD5. Start with any dummy files, then move onto downsampling any movie/audio files. But you may need a special game specific tool to extract those first.
I suggest looking on http://www.alucard.cc to see if there's anything there that'll help you with this game in particular. Its a good site for custom tools for individual games.

In that case it'll be because you don't have the disc size limit removal patch for CDVDGen 1.50 installed.
You'd be better getting hold of Sony CDVDGenerator 2.0, newer, better program & no need to patch it to remove disc size limitations.

Why not just create the iml file, instead of trying to record. Which you won't be able to do anyway, unless you've got a Sony burner that the program recognises.
Once you've got your iml file, use Gnie's DVD IML2ISO v4 to create the new iso

@ tonerj
ace1uk is correct,this is a DVD-9 game,and you need to rip it to DVD-5.
i havent got this game,so cant take a look at the files to try and tell you which files you might be able to remove.
if you can post a screen shot of whats inside the folders, maybe we can move on from there? (look for some PSS files,as thats probably the best place to start.
but then we have to try and get past pain in the ass DVD-9 checks using hex editor, which probably means you'll get stuck,as its not something i can easily explain in the forums,as i aint too hot on that myself!!
btw, you'd be better off using apache 3 so you can see that the disk is dual layer, then you can extract all the files from there.

hehe,i dont do 1 on 1 support
from the screenshot, open up the video folder, see if there any pss files inside (there should be)
if there are some, then you may be in luck,it may just be a case of the DVD-9 checks to overcome,if there are any.
anyways, extract the video folder and see how big it is
there is a tool you can use called pss shrinker, this can shrink pss files down in size
alongside this you can simply find the smallest PSS file, and copy it over and over in place of the larger PSS files, but you must remember to rename the files you overwrite with the original file name they had
btw cd/dvd gen creates the iml files for you, then you can either use iml2iso tool,or use dos command

there are some pss files in there as you can see,but there maybe more
there may be some in the sub folders
extract from the iso just the video folder, and see how big it is
i reckon its near to 2gb's in size, from looking at the screen shot you posted earlier
what you need to do is work out what size you need this folder to be,
it needs to be shrunk down,so when added to the other files/(files we cant touch),it falls below the DVD-5 size limit
pss files are like movie files, are not not really needed for the game to be run.
they need to be there in the root though, otherwise the game will crash.
you cant just delete them.you need to modify them
for example
looking at the screen shot you post,on the screen you can see there are 3 pss files,
mcintro.pss (33mb)
sdlogo.pss (1mb)
rockstar.pss (1.3mb)
what we can do is delete/replace the mcintro.pss file with the sdlogo.pss file
thus the mcintro.pss file would now become 1mb in size
but we cant just replace it with the same file and leave it,you need to rename it back to what it was, like this (note the file size)
mcintro.pss (1mb)
sdlogo.pss (1mb)
rockstar.pss (1.3mb)
note i would leave the rockstar.pss as it is,as you would only save .3mb in size
you need to do this with all the pss files, but even then, that might not be enough
in which case you are stumped
