Yeah, yeah I'm new to this, so don't flame me for hundred pages or anything. I've read, at length, the stickied articles but I still have a few questions. Any help would be appreciated.
Firstly I have a v9 ps2 and am getting a Matrix Infinity chip. So...
1. Whats the deal with swap magic? I know its need to provide a valid boot image but is this necessary if I have a matrix Infinity chip? I know it says it direct boots somewhere but is this for all disc types?
2. When it comes to media which Verbatim is best? Is Advanced AZO okay? Is there a major difference between DVD-R and DVD+R, cos my dvdrw does both?
3. Will a 1:1 copy from a DVD9 to DVD9 disc work as good as a rebuilt DVD5 or is there something up with the formats used?
4. Is Booktyping totally necessary when burning discs?
5. I heard there were problems with the v9 laser, is this true?
If you have a modchip then you will not be needing swapmagic. When it comes to media your going to have to find somthing that works for you, stick with 8x discs burnt at 4x. -R and +R are different formats but I doubt it will make a difference, +R discs can be booktyped, -R cant. Its not completly neccesary to booktype but it can help if you have problems. 1:1 copies with DVD Decrypter will be fine as long as your chip supports DVD9. Im not sure what the story is with the laser, someone else will though so be patient :)
hmmm lets see... i can anwser 2 out of 5 thats not bad eh. for #1) the swap magic isint necessary if the chip is installed otherwise there would be no point for the chip. and although i dont own a Matrix chip im pretty sure it boots all kind of discs otherwise the chip would be a pretty lame buy. As for #2) the verbatrim is considered the best to use but i personaly like sony discs
get Toxic DL Patcher, patch the ISO with that and then burn it and your chip will play the DVD9 back up
the rest has pretty much been answered
I would start out with 8X DVD-R as they are more compatible, especially if your burner can not booktype the DVD+R, which some can not. The V9 laser has been known to have problems and that is why there is a Romeo Fix, but i do not know much about it
@reefbreak You need to stop going around the threads and abusing people like that... yes there are a lot of newbies on this site and yes they sometimes are silly questions, but as long as it's not something like "I don't have a modchip and I want to play pirated games" I really don't think there's the need for that kind of attitude. And some of the questions in here aren't the most straight forward...
