I have a strange problem, i use Nero burning rom to burn my DVD's, i use a LG burner, the strange this is when i burn at 8x it takes a long while to move from 3%, then once the percent starts going up after a few minutes, it gives me msg. "BURN PROCESS FAILED", while when i use 4X, everything goes smooth, i get no burn process failed, can anyone explain, i am using Nero ULTRA EDITION version 7.0.8.2, cause i have seen where ppl have posted that this one is the best version.

Or if i burn at 8X with my LG burner, and it actually goes through it takes a long period before it reaches 100%, takes like 25-26 minutes, while if i burn the same exact movie at 4X it takes like 13-14 minutes, shouldn't 8X be faster than 4X, an eplanation would be greatly appreciated. The only time when i actually burn at 8X, and it completes quickly, is when i am burning a movie from the hard drive it takes like 6-10 minutes depending on the size of the movie, yet when i copy from DVD to DVD it takes long, or just give me burn process failed.

Yes that's actual burning time, meaning then time it takes to burn the movie, its just strange to me cause when i burn at 4x everything works fine.

Well it seems like you are NOT going to post a Nero log.
Quote: Matrix and Pengo 8x DVD's
These are not top quality discs to start with.
It is recommended to burn at half the disc rated speed (and thats with top quality discs) so your maximum recommended speed is 4X...if you want poor results you use poor quality discs.

@Haomaru
Rule of thumb is never burn faster than 1/2 the rated speed of your media. That's just asking for trouble, even when using quality media. For you, 4x should be ideal.

Taiyo Yuden (available online under that brand), Sony, Fuji (Only made in Japan varieties) or Verbatim (I understand the Taiwanese version of this media is okay).
The TY's can be found at rima.com or supermediastore.com for as little as .39 each in quantaties of 100. Many people think they are the best (myself included).

No, just a little over 2k. I am very pleased with it, though. It's the first PC i've built and not spared any expense to get exactly what I wanted.
Now might be a good time to change my sig.

Ok i c, Sig ?, what is that, what blanks
Oh and by the way i have tried the blank white top DVDS and they seem crappy even though when burning is complete and it says burn process successfull, yet when u play the dvd in a player, it keeps sticking at some point. I think they call them fake Pengos.
