ive read when backing up PS2 DVD games you should use DVD-R good quality dvds (sony made in jpn, verbatim, etc.)..but my mom accidently(somehow) bought MAXELL DVD+R..i used DVDencypter, and book typed them to DVD-R..and they work great.. but my Initial D backup will freeze after i click a anything from main menu..(ive reburned several times on low speed).. is it because of teh DVD brand? should i buy DVD-R? ..even tho +R works for all other backup games?

Try rebuilding the game, Maxell DVD+R are ok, but you can't booktype them to DVD-R, only to DVD-Rom...

oh yeah sorry..i meant DVD-ROM .. >_<..but DVD-ROM is still acceptable right? >< and oh.. rebuild? sorry if this sounds really noob but, i thought rebuilding was only good for if the game file is like over 4.7gbs or something XD (im not saying your wrong lol, just a question(:

Yep DVD-Rom is fine (having said that, I don't booktype some of my DVD+R and they work fine.. it all depends on your luck)

Also here for rebuilding: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/18/275350 , yes you are right for this game you shouldn't need to rebuild, but sometimes rebuilding seems to have better compatibility for some people. I assume you know about the burning speed as well (half the rated speed)?

maxell (made in japan) are great discs. i always use them. i have 50+ backups and they all work fine.

if these +R discs are working fine, then stick with them.
