Never heard of it, are you sure it's a PS2 utility? Sounds more like it's used for normal DVDs, although IsoBuster would do the same thing if its just for extracting files from a standard dvd.

thanks for the link oziwombat
i have tried the method 5 times and wasted 5 dvdrs
the problem is that the game starts up but crashes and goes blank just before the video intro...
have i missed something here, help!!

the problem is that there are a few video files that you can't rebuild, I don't have the list but have a search for this, there's 5-6 video files that you don't rebuild, and one of them include the intro movie, and this is where the game stops from the sounds of it (I had that same problem before). One of the ways to get those "coasters" to work is to keep pressing X when the intro comes up, this will skip the intro movie, and go into the game

Have you followed Alcohol's guide ? With a lot of help from dan168 & following both Sonix's & Alcohols guides,my first burn works fine. We need to know what steps you have taken?

Found the list of files that you shouldn't downsample:
20r60r.pss
ending_us.pss
opening_us.pss ('us' bit depends on region i.e might be opening_aus.pss)
pv.pss
start_game.pss
start_game_old.pss
Others you need to downsample to 45% from memory, that should solve your problem.

well i tried and no luck, but this time i didnt get to burn..
i took dan168's suggestions but had a couple a problems,
some files u mentioned was not in the folder and some named differently..
20r60r.pss - that was fine
ending_us.pss - name was ending.pss
opening_us.pss - name was opening.pss
pv.pss - was not in folder
start_game.pss - that was fine
start_game_old.pss - was not in folder
so i went on and downsampled all the files to 45% except:
20r60r.pss
ending.pss
opening.pss
start_game.pss
but then the problem was that after rebuilding, the finished iso was too big to burn, it came to 4.5g
any other suggestions??...

OK I can't remember much about this as it was a while ago, but wait for someone like oziwombat to come and answer this question... I think he had the PAL version of GT4 as well and he managed to get it going. I actually just reuilt the whole thing the first time and that didn't work, and when I found out what I needed to do I had gotten myself a HDD so I didn't need to rebuild the game again...

what if i downsampled the files to 40% instead of 45%
would that reduce the iso size??

yes it would... not sure about what you would do with the files that you said that's not there though, but downsampling them to 40% would reduce the size further

Yes mine is PAL ver & I downsampled all pss files to 50% & ended up with a game size of 4.4gb & seems to work fine.I used both alcohol's & sonix's guides but found Alcohol's guide easier to use.
1/ does your orig game work OK ?
2/ are you using Alcohol's guide?
3/ what size file do you end up with ?
4/ what media do you use ? [mine wont play 8x Verb's]
5/ what program do you use to copy & burn orig GT4
6/ do you have a mod chip in your ps2 ?

Hi slzstr
To find out about your blank disc's, run your disc through Nero Cd dvd speed & find out your disc speed.[Ps2's do not like 16x]
Are they + or - ? If + change book type in Decypter to Dvd-Rom using it's tool menu,drive.[if your drive is not listed I don't think you can use it.]
What speed are you burning at?
Try the Alcohol 120% free trail.[I can even use my 8x Verbs with this]

What brand are the 8x & I don't believe there is a 12x Ritek & yes alcohol seems to work better on my crappy mod chipped V7 ps2. Maybe you have a crap chip like mine & when you get your invalid disc message hold power button in till it goes red then press again & see if it loads. Also what other methods different from Alchol's guide are you using ? I used Sonix for the PAL part but mostly Alcohol's as he knows more about ripping then you ,Dan or I put together will ever know.
