I upgraded to 2.71 and although i would like to play homebrew and ISOs, I dont really regret upgrading and dont want to downgrade. if you downgrade there are disadvantages like not being able to play some games which require the latest firmware and not being able to use the internet. also i think the ability to view flash with the later firmwares is pretty cool. anyway, some superbrain will eventually come up with a way to play homebrew on 2.71 without spending 100 quid on a mod chip and risking the breaking of your psp. until then ill just have to make do with paying for games...

Nearly all games are playable on 1.50 now and you can use the web browser, thanks to devhook. So 2 of your main reasons for not wanting to downgrade are invalid.

Im very sorry to bother you all - have been saving for long time to buy a psp - and the time has come!!

Have seen the talk bout homebrew and am very pleased that i can save money for games. but i get quite confused also.

I want to run this but am worried that it will 'brick' my psp - was after your guys opionion at whether im at risk if i use it - also which psp firmware version should i buy to have best results or should i just buy the latest psp out at the moment? thaks for your help guys!!

1.5 if you can mate. 2.0 is also a good shout as it's easy to downgrade to 1.5.

wow looks cool. Looking at those pics Im assuming that music and other junk stored in the ps3 hard drive can be viewed with the PSP. That would be cool.

yeah and also the console security bit will be good cos, although not many people think about it, if your psp gets nicked then whoever has it can fully use it cos the only feature that uses a password on the psp right now is the parental control bit for watching umd movies. The music store bit looks cool aswell and the idea of the ps3 making the psp even better is great!
