my dvd writer will not burn any dvds or cds can any 1 help

When i go to burn a dvd or cd i select my options and then i click burn and then it says insert cd and there is a cd in there but its saying it isnt can any1 help

Hello.

Try doing an uninstall of the burner with Device Manager and then allow WinXP to reinstall the device upon startup.

Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
Click the Hardware tab.
Click the Device Manager button.
Click the DVD/CD-ROM drives "+" symbol to expand the category.
Right click on the burner name and select Uninstall.
Restart the system.

You might also post your NeroHistory log for the burn. Delete your program serial number before posting. The log maintains the burn history for the last several burns and is divided into sections for each burn. There is a header followed by the program serial number. Don't post the entire log, just the last section that likely deals with this failed attempt. The log is in one of these paths:

Nero 6: Program files > Ahead > Nero > NeroHistory
Nero 7: Program Files > Nero > Nero7 > Core > NeroHistory

The best thing would be to post back your Nero History log omitting yuor serial number. See my initial response after your original post above.
