is there a program out there that will automaticly convert PAL dvds to NTSC with favorable results?

I think some of the AVI to DVD conversion programs like ConvertXtoDVD.

http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

None will do the entire DVD, only the main title I think.

Imo you're better off with a player that plays both broadcast formats. There are cheap players that play both.

Software conversion (at a price that the typical backup-consumer can afford) is not a viable option. The NTSC/PAL frame rates per second are different so the conversion backup will be jittery at action scenes. It takes many hours to convert and one little burp from your computer can cause you to have to start all over again. As suggested above by laddyboy, just get player that plays both formats.
