this really annoys me, it always happens after a BSOD, i fixed the BSOD and usually i reformat toactually get the thing working again, but now i decided, i am a member of the greatest tech forum there is, and now i need help :(

my thumbdrive, a Kingmx 128MB drive, worked perfectly, till i got a BSOD, i fixed the BSOD by restarting, reverting to best recent configuration, then removign the most recent software applications that i think caused the BSOD (ImTOO DVD Ripper, and #1 DVD Ripper) - testing to see which is better.

well anyway, once i rebooted my computer i couldt still use my external USB DVD Burner, but my thumb drive doesnt work, i tried it on another computer and it works fine, i tried uninstalling in device manager and reinstalling after a reboot, still dont work.

the strange thing about it is that it come sup in device manager, local disk management and in my other software, but i cant access it through explorer, meaning i cant save files to it within other programs either. i checked in computer management, it did not have a drive letter assigned to it, so i assigned letter F:/ which is not assigned to any other device, but it still does not come up even if i try in explorer, manually through the address bar "f:/"

can anyone help, i am positive it is not spyware or virus or malwear cuase i have scanned for it all.

any help is appreciated, i shal ltry and access it in DOS, if it works there i know there may be hope yet...

please help as much as you can, i dotn want to rever to another reformat, those things take ages, esp with all the softare i have installed.

thanks again

i finally found out how to fix it.
the problem is caused by a file called:
"sptd.sys"
which is located in the:
"C:/Windows/System32/drivers/"
directory.

the file is most commonly used by the programs alcohol120% and DaemonTools, the driver provides the interface for the emulation and virtual drives in each of the softwares.

so thats that :D
